Lots of Striper Boats from Prarie Creek down to Rocky Branch on Sunday, too. No idea if they were catching much, but they were all grouped up in some areas, so you'd think some fish were there. Didn't look like a lot of fun to me, 5-6 folks sitting around in a boat waiting for something to happen, but to each their own.

I did pretty well on black bass. Caught 9 in 3-4 hours, but only 3 legals. C-rigs on steep drops into 50-60 feet for the most part.

Fished the White this morning for stripers. Mud and trash starts to clear up above Blue Springs. Water temperature 59 degrees. Didn’t mark a fish or any bait...needless to say didn’t catch anything either.

Turned the boat around about noon and went up War Eagle. Maybe a mile in I started marking all kinds of bait and fish. Fished about an hour and no bites...they musta been full from there noon meal. Water temperature 63 degrees.

Making Beaver Lake safe for all the little fish...one striper at a time.

I think you hit a key factor with the water temp of 63* ...>>>> ...I'm not an authority by any means! so take this for what it is.. the only times i have ever caught" big" fish,( over 25 lbs.) it was either snowing, or dark and gloomy, or an iced ramp. ALMOST every time the bite was 45 minutes to an hour and a half before daylite. in that funny time of twilight ....but there always was a good run of white bass, and or hybrids before hand. that's when we would get hooked up, and I use to throw big chrome zara spooks (in the cove across from point 12, all the way in the back.) sometimes that bite would be as soon as it hit the water ,Bam! or after just a few twitches of big splashes. on the other hand have had a bunch hit right at the boat and almost rip the rod right out of your hand!!......THERE IS nothing like that drag sing n'......the third time!! and the scramble .... yelling get the NET...... NO, GET THE NET...... GET THAT DAM NET,... NOW!!!!

this little cold snap has turn the lake back to some good color! (normal looking) have not had the boat traffic as last week. the low wind has made for some good looking surface activity, that is moving back up into the war eagle arm(or the second bend after point 12) have not seen anything up the white river section but from the Hwy 45 bridge at Goshen water is good looking color. ..... that's my armchair report for this week!!

Thanks. I'll be spending the next 4 days on Beaver trying to figure out where the big black bass are hiding. Maybe I'll wander down that way.

I was out yesterday, fished the Piney creek area, a little bit in War Eagle, caught some black bass - nothing real big - and a few nice whites on the Bass Pro version of a Rattle Trap. Best fishing seems to be in the back of coves where the shad are concentrated. Talked to another guy at the Hickory creek ramp and he said he had done well on bass shallow - didn't get any more detail than that, but the fish are biting and you picked a good 4 days to fish.

Caught 11 bass yesterday. Mostly on c-rigs and bass jigs, and mostly 20'+. Water is really clear down in Van Hollow area and Clifty. But it had more color than I'd seen in a while in Sunset/Prairie Creek cove. Must have been that little 1/2" of rain we got the other day. Also fished down in the hatchery area, and the water is also still pretty brown down there. So a pretty good day. Saw some big old carp jumping quite a bit in the morning, too. Can't figure out why they'd be jumping, but they were.

Wife claimed today to do some hiking, so obviously not fishing today (yet ;) ). We had a nice hike already, so maybe sneak out for the evening bite.

Wow, had a great day yesterday with my neighbor. Sunrise to sunset deal. Started off kind of slow, but finally got into them early afternoon. Caught 7 legals, lots of shorts. 2 of the legals were nice smallmouths and one bucket mouth went close to 3lbs. Mostly caught on 5/16oz bass jigs with craw trailers up in the Rocky to Clifty areas. Water is very clear up there. Water is more stained in the hwy 12 bridge area, and somewhere in between in the Prarire Creek area.

Oh, commented about the "why do carp jump" thing to my neighbor. He said they're just looking around. Had a good chuckle over that one.
