Sorry for helping to descend this thread into what it was with my political post about redbird's signature. I hadn't checked it since, and had no idea a what my post had done to the thread. My sincere apologies for that. I should have known.

Let me just say I will put on my signature line whatever I feel like putting on there as long as it's not obscene.

Secondly, I don't want to spark a catch and release debate, but that brown trout being gutted makes my stomach turn

Sorry that the sight of a dead fish bothers you..... That was a 25" brown that a bud of mine caught on the Current a couple years ago. He's just a good ol' boy who likes to keep a fish every now an then. He skinning it out for a mount right there and we ate it later that evening along with some deer backstraps. It was quite tasty, and nothing was wasted if its any consolation.

No big thing since its going to be preserved. It looked like a surgeons touch anyway. Not some poor fillet job

I was going to comment about that fish.

My mounts have a lateral cut down the backside so you answered my question...looked more like a skinning job than a cleaning job but, I aint the boss of nobody but myself and what each of us choose to do with our catch is our choice as long as it's legal.

I don't have the right to judge, condem, give praise, whatever. We each have that right IMO.

Now if that were a 25" smallie under the knife it would be more to my disliking...even then I don't have the right to say anything...and replicas, they are ok I guess but they look like what they are to me, a fake fish.

Like we've talked...at least the trout population gets help, most of our native species are on their own.

Would be nice to see more effort (or any effort) and funding put towards helping our true native species of fishes.
