I know that this seems unbelievable and even when I think about it, it does. I mean c'mon, the Bourbouse? Now while I don't really want to give up my spots, I can tell you guys how to apply our techniques to other parts of the river.

We find the large, deep slow moving holes, preferably with lots of shallow water up and downstream. During this time of year the fish flock to these big holes and are hungry as they are beefing up for winter.

We catch them all over, rocks, logs even out in the middle if there is cover out there such as logs or rocks.

We stick to rubber baits with senkos, creature baits like beavers being the hot lures.

We can go out and catch a decent amount of fish all the way up until the water starts dropping into the 30's and when it freezes over its all over.

I'll see if I have any more pictures from last weekend.

EDIT: Another thing I wanted to add is that we fish this stream all year but only this time of year do we catch quantity and quality that I am telling you guys about.

It is weird that during the rest of the year you think that the smallmouth are increasingly being over taken by kentuckies but when we fish this time of year we probably catch 3 smallmouth to 1 kentucky and lots of largemouth.

So guys don't give up, they smallies are in there, just seem to be a tough catch during the rest of the year.

That is some killer fishing for this time of year on any river. Can't believe the Bourbeuse is producing like that. That 3.7 had to break 20 inches, right? Well done!...maybe I've been doing something wrong on that river.

I think we measured him at 21".

Once this river comes down and clears up a bit, they are going to put the feedbag on big time again I think.

Hopefully ya'll can post some of your success stories too!

I'd just about convinced myself to hang up the smallie gear for the season, but I think I might have to schedule a little trip. You've been fishing somewhere between Mill Rock and Noser's I take it? (No worries, C&R only, and I'm a spot killer). You can PM me that info if you care to share it and don't want to do it publicly.
