trizkid Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 started fishing in the park at around 9:30. The water was up and murky, vis was about 2 feet or so. Started off tossing a bright yellow BH rabbit strip leeche. First hook up was in a couple of casts out i was just letting it swing and jerking it every couple of seconds. he just slamed it, i thought it was a nice brownie untill he jumped and I realized it was a nice smallie. Caught him right at the log crossing there by the parking lot. after releasing him my buddy hooked up with another smallie that looked around the same size but ended up getting off. Headed down stream from there picked up a trout or two before losing the leeche. Put on a BH pms i tie and ended up pickin another up at one of the little spillways. After eating lunch headed up the the shallow boulder section there down from the line. Put on a size 6 y2k looking thingy i tie and caught 7 more to end the trip. no pictures of my trout we only had one cam between the 3 of us but did get some pics of the smallie TrIzzout
eric1978 Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Very nice smallie! I bet you'll keep seeing them around the park more often until the water temps go back up in the spring. Bet you thought you had a real beast of a trout!

Bet you thought you had a real beast of a trout! Never fails, when it gets cold, there is always some nice smallies in there. I have seen them in the past pushing 4-5 lbs. Glad you got into em.

Glad you got into em. Yep, I've always figured that smallies generally head to the closest somewhat slower and deeper water in the winter, but I really do think that fish that live close by downstream from the spring, probably head up that way for the winter. I know I would if I was a smallie.
Members BobK Posted November 23, 2009 Members Posted November 23, 2009 Nice smallie....I bet that was fun! You ain't a live'n if your not a fish'n

creek wader Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 I'd rather catch a wild smallie than a trout, that's stocked in a trout park, anyway. Especially one that size. Nice catch. wader
drew03cmc Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 Smallmouth live in the park all year long. They can be found in many of the deeper pools in the lower park all year. Andy
