Hey guys and gals, I managed to make it out saturday mornin for some much needed time on the water. I set out with two goals in mind... 1.) to get a new graph set up and zoned in 2.) to try out my homemade jigs and skirts

I launched out of mill creek and pulled up on a spot to tune in the new graph.... Looked out deep and lucked out. I sat right on top of a school of KY's while I tuned the graph and caught three with one being a keeper. These fish were over 45ft running around 35ft. I messed around with the drop shot and a spoon for about 30 minutes playing with the graph mostly. I left these deep fish biting and went on the hunt for jig fish. The fish I found with the jig were anywhere from 10ft out to about 16ft and I did throw a wiggle wart for a lil while with no luck, but I didn't try real hard either :P.

I made a couple different styles and colors and switched em up quite a bit just seeing if they would perform like I hoped they would. I have to say I was pretty impressed with myself. I didn't have huge numbers or a big fish and I called it in before noon, but I did have a great day on the lake. I ended up with 8 fish total and 5 of them being keepers and they weighed around 13.5lbs.

its not much info but I hope it helps

Hey Troy.

Thanks for the report.

I can identify... I have just started making my own jigs also-- Eakins style, round-head with horizontal eye.

There's nothing like catching fish on your own jigs. B)

"A-Rig? Thanks, but no thanks. If I can't catch them on the conventional tackle that I already use, then I guess I just can't catch them." -LK (WHACK'EM)

Uh...what? That's a big smallie in my book. Are you from Tennessee or up north or something?

No, Im from right here and I didn't say I didn't have any nice fish :P That smallie was a lil over 3lbs just a nice fish and definately a hard fighter but not like the 4 and 5 lbers that are in the Rock

Whack' em, I am making football heads and a flippin style head... and your right there is nothing like catching fish on your own jigs :)

I know, I was just pokin' ya a little. I'm used to river smallies and any time I catch a fish that size it qualifies as "big." You guys down at TR are spoiled. :D

We are fortunate to have one heck of a fishery but I dunno about spoiled, that might be a bit of a stretch :P Definately fortunate to have such a wonderful fishery

HEY TROY

YOU WOULD PROBABLY CATCH MORE AND BIGGER FISH IF YOU HAD A GOOD HAT ON

HA HA

TIM

A wise man once said that "men often go to church and think about going fishing. But the same men go fishing and think about God."

No way, man. The older and uglier the hat, the better it fishes. I grab the rattiest old torn up thing I can find if I feel like I need some luck. :D
