Members Troutgod1 Posted November 27, 2009 Members Posted November 27, 2009 [b]Heard there was going to a sale When do the new owners take over Backcountry outfitters ? I am going to be in Springfield next week, wanted to stop by and check them out, heard there was going to be one heck of a sale to elminate some unwanted inventory ? Anybody else heard about this, I would like to get a bargin or two before christmas. Also heard they were going to put in a fly tying table up in the front of the store, and were going to have coffee brewing most of the time, always looking for a place to hear a few good fish stories. While my family is shopping I can pop in and tie a few flies try out a new vise, to get some shopping suggestions for my mom, she will by something neat for Christmas if I can explain to her what I want. I'm going to buy a 6' Bamboo fly rod this week, anybody got any small lightweight used fly reels that would work and look good on a bamboo fly rod ?
Terry Beeson Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 The transfer takes place as of December 1st. No "sales" as of yet, but probably will be soon. We'll keep you posted on that. We'll be "re-arranging" the store next week and yes, the "BS" table will be up front with the coffee brewing. More to come as Tim lets me know what we're going to do. I'll be working in the shop next week... timsfly Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 Just talked to the new owner, Tim Fowkes. No sale on anything except some simms clothes. And the sale won't be for several weeks, I think Michael has a heck of a sale going on this weekend any how, this is his last week and he has been selling some stuff really cheap. 40% off some sage rods, and redington rods, and 50% off of simms clothing, can't beat that. I'll bet this weekend will be the best weekend for a deal. Tim Homesley 23387 st. hwy 112 Cassville, Mo 65625 Roaring River State park Tim's Fly Shop www.missouritrout.com/timsflyshop
Brian K. Shaffer Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 my only qualm - change the lights in the store so is doesnt hurt the material. Just once I wish a trout would wink at me! ozarkflyfisher@gmail.com I'm the guy wearing the same Simms longbilled hat for 10 years now.
snagged in outlet 3 Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 What are you talking about Brian? Do certain lights hurt materials? What kind of materials? SIO3
Micheal Kyle Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 I am setting my fly tying room up at home and would like to know exactly what lights to put in. It is in my basement where there are no windows or doors to let outside light in. To Know People Is To Know Thier Ways!

If the materials are on the shelves so long that you need special lighting then you have bigger problems. I am an avid fly fisher. I love fishing the Ozarks and the White River watershed from the spring creeks to the tailwaters.

There is alternative lighting that will reduce the amount of UV, but unless you're going to tie flies 8-10 hours a day every day, I don't think you'll have a problem. As for the fly shops, it's a catch-22... good lighting, including some UV, makes the material "pop out" more... If you reduce the lighting, customers can't see what it looks like and they could be tripping all over the store...
