Aaron J Scott Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 Had a good time out on the Nianger on Friday. As mentioned in the previous thread, we floated Bennett to Barclay. Left Bennett around 10:30 and got into Barclay right before sunset. Without describing events or naming names, I will say that I was really glad it was around 70F and sunny yesterday. As for the fishing, my dad and brother caught just about everything on spoons. I was the only one with a fly rod and landed all my fish on conehead bunny leeches – brown and olive. Had a really nice fish shake off a chartreuse double bunny. (I like meaty flies, and I like zonker strips, if you couldn't tell.) We had a bald eagle follow us down the river, probably eying my brother's stringer. We decided the eagle bird poop smells like America, that it would be an honor the be crapped on by a bald eagle. So patriotic! Save Scratch, Raise Cash. Fish Itch!
fishinwrench Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 uh oh, did you get baptised ? I assume that since you didn't mention it, that you (like myself) haven't seen any of those thousands of 13" Browns they reported to have stocked awhile back ?

I assume that since you didn't mention it, that you (like myself) haven't seen any of those thousands of 13" Browns they reported to have stocked awhile back ? You are correct. All bows, and most all of them were pretty beat up. Had a few with some nice color, but for the most part they had rubbed-raw tails and pec fins. I had high hopes that the fish I lost off the double bunny was a brown because of the way it hit the fly and shook its head as it broke the water, but obviously didn't get a good look. Maybe some day. I'd love to land a brownie on the Nianger. Save Scratch, Raise Cash. Fish Itch!
