Paola Cat Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 Fished the 64 access this morning. Fishing was decent. Seems like there's a few bigger fish around. Actually caught a couple of 15-16 inchers today. Pleasant surprise. They fought hard in that current. Thought I had a monster a couple of times ..... almost got into the backing twice. One had been caught before (tore mouth) and a messed up tail. The other one was clean. Plenty of the normal 10-12'' fish also. Took most of the fish on olive mohair leeches, olive slumpbuster, and champagne micro eggs. Missed quite a few fish ... seemed to short hit the leech and the slumpbuster. Maybe I was just asleep at the wheel. Fished the canoe put-in down to the last boat ramp. All rainbows today. The river conditions are good. The river looks great. Plenty of action. PC Cheers. PC
fishinwrench Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 Glad to hear you got out PC. Hey, have you EVER caught a fish out of that left-side chute at the 2nd riffle ?
Paola Cat Posted November 30, 2009 Author Posted November 30, 2009 Wrench ..... When I fish the canoe put-in ..... This is what I call it .... Upstream is Riffle #1 .... Riffle #2 starts in the middle of the put-in and ends at the run at end of the put-in. The end of the put-in is usually good for me. I usually spend a lot of time there. The riffles themselves are hit-n-miss for me. Sometimes good .... sometimes nothing. Then it's usually lousy downstream (near bank chute/run) until I get to the flat area/run above the last boat ramp but below what I call Riffle #3. There's that run and hole (big log far bank - around that little peninsula). The fish hold in the run, hole, or are out on that flat. Yesterday they were out on the flat. PC Cheers. PC
