Brian Wise Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 Brian, is there any chance I could buy some of those two types of flies from you? Or do you know of a place that sells them? ROLF has a grab-bag of flies that I tie for them. The Rubber-Legs and Slacker Psycho is in it. BP in Columbia 'may' have the Psycho Prince but I doubt they have the Rubber-Legs. Flysmallie Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 Hey guys, If you don't mind the stupid audio to go along with them I did some videos on tying the Rubber-Legs and a Slacker-Psycho (my version of the Psyco Prince) Fly Fishing the Ozarks Fishing and Tying Videos The videos are marked as such. MaxDrown Posted January 4, 2010 Author Posted January 4, 2010 Had a great time on the NFoW. It was cold, but bearable. We were well prepared thanks in large part to this forum. We only caught a few small trout, but we're still learning. By the end of the second day, I think our technique had improved significantly. Things like mending, getting the flies to the bottom, etc. are not easy to learn. On day one, we floated from Kelly to Sunburst. On day two we fished around an island near Sunburst. We decided not to float on day two because near the end of day one the canoes were hitting rocks we could not see until we were on them nearly tipping us several times. I believe the water was around 800 cfs. It was cool to meet Justin Spencer and Scott Alred (sp?). -- Max Drown

Justin Spencer Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Max It was great meeting you guys, hope you enjoyed the river despite the slow fishing. One of the guys staying here the day you fished around Sunburst said he hooked about a dozen fish and landed four, and he is usually a 20 fish a day guy so the fishing was slow for more than just you. More than any other river, I think the north fork has a steep learning curve but as you can see from some of the pictures others have posted the rewards can definately be worth the effort. Just so you know I fly fished this river for 3 weeks before I caught my first trout, still can't figure out how I didn't at least snag a fish before that, but without having any advise or prior knowlege of this river it was kicking my butt. You guys were doing everything right as far as how you were rigged, and the only way to improve fishing this fast water is to do it, and you did it at about the highest level for being wadable. Not to mention it was right around freezing. Hope to see you back soon and Happy New Year.
