Justin Spencer
We floated from ROLF to Blair, and pretty much caught fish throughout that whole stretch except for down close to the bridge. Wish I knew why the rubber legs aren't working to well. And, why was it that they would only take the olive leech. I forgot I did try the brown and black leeches too, but came up with nothing. Maybe it had something to do with the weather or the water flow. I think we timed our float just right because that cold front started to hit right as we were taking out. I guess if we knew how and why we'd always tear em' up, just glad you figured out what they were taking! Brian Wise
Lilley, the camera is made by GoPro. I think it's specifically designed for extreme sports. Comes with a clear casing that is waterproof down to 180 feet. I just got the same camera! I pre-ordered and just got mine about a week ago....the quality is insane. Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted December 7, 2009 Root Admin Share Posted December 7, 2009 I ordered one last night. Can't wait to see all the new videos... Lone Angler, Brian. Will have to tell Santa to get one for Kyle and Justin, then we'll have the trout on NFOW covered!!
Members LB DRY FLY
Do you think that this will take as good a pics (5 megapixel) as some of the cameras that we discuss on here (Olympux, pentax, etc)? Or are you purchasing as primarily a video camera? I asked because I am in the market for a new waterproof camera for mainly still shots...but this camera is appealing. Brian Wise
LB DRY FLY, Not to answer someone else's question but if you are looking at a water proof camera to shoot good stills I would stay away from the GoPro. At 5 megapixel it shoots "ok" photos and every once in a while a real good photo but it's not what I would call consistent on stills. The video quality is insane though. I have a waterproof Olympus Stylus 850sw and it shoots insane quality stills and has the ability to shoot video. The quality of the video on the Olympus is about as consistent as the stills with the GoPro. I LOVE my Stylus for stills and will LOVE my GoPro for video. Hope that helps. Members LB DRY FLY
Brian, That answers my question, and I had assumed that was the case. I have looked at the Olympus and am also considering the new Canon waterproof model. They just came out with it this year and it rates very high. thanks. Justin Spencer
I have a pentax optio for stills, easy point and shoot with good zoom, have taken good pics with it underwater 6MP. (Kyle I think has one IN the North Fork) I have a sanyo Xacti video camera takes HD video in 1080 I believe, it shoots underwater with no special housing and is super simple to use, also takes stills, but only 2MP, you can however make a still from your video which is handy. It is waterproof to 10 feet and cost around $350 on Amazon, we were looking for a new video camera so we would use it for the kids, and this is the first one I've had that records to a memory card instead of a tape, and was priced as well as other non-waterproof models. I'd check these out for sure! Snow Fly
Lone Angler: Glad Phil asked about the underwater video! After seeing your picture and the camera on your head I thought you might have went under for a good view of the brown swimming off.............burr!
