Well good luck with Lowrance. If you want a model number like you mention I'd try EBay first but be sure the thing is working when you buy it. Before investing any cash I would recommend going to the Lowrance site and researching the model you want. See if they have declared it "Obsolete" like they are so fond of doing. If it is deemed obsolete, Lowrance will refuse to take it in for service and repair. I had an LCX15MT on which the GPS antenna died. Couldn't buy a replacement from Lowrance but a friendly member of this board tipped me off that Bass Pro outlet in Springfield was selling Map Create 7 kits including the unavailable antenna for $30. Otherwise that $1000+ plus unit would have been junk, thanks to Lowrance. Caveat Emptor !
Bill Babler Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 Guys sometimes getting repairs on older equipment can be a problem, reguardless of what the product is. I believe there is a moritorium that parts have to be manufactured for a 5 yr. period after the discontinuation of a product model number. Lowrance is no different that most other companies, they want to sell you a new one. I have had a very hard time here at the lodge, getting replacement parts for any of our internal plumbing and electronics as the 5 yrs. have passed, on certain items we purchased and we just have to buy new. I know all the reel companies discontinue parts for out of model reels after 5 yrs. You can sometime find aftermarket or some places that still have inventory. I sold two X15's this Summer just cause a buddy had his go out and could not get parts. He loved the B&W unit, and bought both of the ones I had, when I purchased the 37C. He paid me more money than I paid for the units new at BP. Mike Webb had gotten us a deal when those units went out of production, new in boxes. As the technology changes and improves, the older stuff just gets thrown away in this society. I guess I am getting close to throwaway. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
