Hey Andy I agree. There is some great river fishing in KS. You just have to know where.

I have relatives in the area, so I've spent some time fishing the Kansas Ozarks. The bass fishing really isn't bad at all, and its a unique area. You do have to look pretty hard for access, but it can be found at bridges and such. My favorite for that part of the state is the Elk River.

Even outside of the Ozarks, you can find some creeks and rivers to hit that hold largemouth, sunfish and other desirable riverine species. I have a river close to home here that I chase crappie, white bass, largemouth and other species like drum and carp.

Channel cat over 30" on fly rod..blue cat of any size on a fly. 6' gar or better. hybrid over 20" . a flathead (never caught one). id also like to find a grass carp over 3ft.

maybe a musky, and some more common carp too. aside from personal bests, id like to put friends on fish, take my dad and brother out more often, and meet people with similar interests. Oh yeah...another goal of mine is to hopefuly...bring attention to the carp fishing in the river des peres. if 2010 is anything like 2009, its going to be a good year.
