Quillback Posted January 11, 2010 Author Posted January 11, 2010 Well I might go Saturday, temps are supposed to be in the 40's and cloudy. I believe they will be starting the drawdown soon, you would think that would increase current through the lake and maybe get the fish biting.
jeb Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Forgot to mention the water temps. 36 degrees when I started at 10am and got up to just over 40 by 4pm. Good to hear they're going to start drawing the lake down. About time. John B 08 Skeeter SL210, 225F Yamaha
Quillback Posted January 12, 2010 Author Posted January 12, 2010 About that fluorocarbon - Something I do is after spooling up a spinning reel with it, is when I first get out on the water, as you are slowly moving the boat, let the line out all the way, then reel it back in keeping tension on it between thumb and fore finger of one hand - same thing you do to eliminate twists in mono. Here's an article with some other tips: http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/fluorocarbon_line.html
jeb Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Thanks. I had done the let the line out behind the boat and then reel it back in thing. But I'd also freshly spooled up my other spinning reel with Seaguar Invisx and had much less issue with it. I had the Cabela's sitting around so figured I'd try it. Learned my lesson there. I'll use the rest of the spool for C-rig leaders. John B 08 Skeeter SL210, 225F Yamaha
