Brian K. Shaffer Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 I've got numerous boxes of 5 and 6wt's. Brand new in box. It's Rio Grand. 100ft on the 6wt, 90ft on the 5's. $50 no tax no ship if local. That's the dealio. They smell really good, factory fresh, as in within weeks. Treat yourself. Your own little Christmas present should be for you - it should be new fly line. Micheal Kyle Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Interesting!!!!!! Black Market Fly lines. It really does not matter to me but I would like to raise this question. I used to have to bite my tongue on here because of our shop I do not have to do so any more. Why are there people out here that do not want fly shops to make any money and would want to undercut. My wife and I have just sold our for profit fly shop that is how we made our living. It makes me mad even to this day that their are people out there that think it is ok to sale out of their trunk. Their are 7 fly shops in this area that can use your money more than someone that is selling out their trunk. The fly shop owners have taken the step and made the investment some of the shops you will like and some you will not, but support some one that is doing it the right way. I bet if you walked into one of the fly shops and asked for a deal they will give it to you. Thats the glory of owning your own shop do what you want. Yes the manufacture sets the price and they all should be sold the at the same price. At least they are getting the sale and can pay the bank. So that they can keep their doors open so that you can call and ask any question about fishing, fly tying, gear what ever you want to ask. What if something happens to the product that you just bought out the trunk how are you going to prove where you bought the product. Most of the manufactures will repair or replace in the first 6 months of use no matter what the product is but it has to be accompanied by a receipt from a dealer. This even goes for rods now they have a limited Lifetime Warranty bust must have receipt where you bought it plus the warranty card must be on file with the manufacture. All I am asking is that we support our local Fly shops in this tough economic times. To Know People Is To Know Thier Ways!
Brian K. Shaffer Posted January 12, 2010 Author Posted January 12, 2010 Thanks alot Micheal. Just once I wish a trout would wink at me! ozarkflyfisher@gmail.com I'm the guy wearing the same Simms longbilled hat for 10 years now.
Members Troutgod1 Posted January 12, 2010 Members Posted January 12, 2010 Thanks alot Micheal. I agree with Michael, I try to spend all my money with my local shops, I don't mail order or by from people that are trying to sell stuff out of their homes or cars, where will they be if I have a problem with my discount item, I'll tell you where they will be nowhere in sight when you have a problem, I've been dealing with Tim's Fly Shop and some with Backcountry outfitters for years and I've had a problem now and again and both shops were quick to help out and replace or fix the problem, get that from someone over the internet, not going to happen. I shop with the shops in Branson while I'm there fishing but I buy mostly from my local shops. I remember once I had purchased a line from one of the above mentioned shops, it had a bubble or something about 30 feet into the line,I fished it awhile and when in the shop next I told the owner, he looked at the line, replaced it, put a new line on for me told me it was a problem for the manufacturer and it was done, great customer service. So think about that kind of stuff before buying from someone that is selling stuff in bulk out of the house or car, what kind of help can you get from them in the future, NONE. Anyway I like calling the shops for water updates, it really helps sometimes. I don't know Brian and this is not against him in any way, but I support my local shops.

Anyway I like calling the shops for water updates, it really helps sometimes. I don't know Brian and this is not against him in any way, but I support my local shops. Please don't take this the wrong way, ANYONE.... Whine and moan all you want about black market this and who is going to give me customer service that. Things are tough all over gentlemen. Its just the way it is. I haven't had but two weeks of honest work since the end of May and I still flung 6 or 7 hundred dollars into the economy in the Branson area over New years, not because I felt some special allegiance but because I wanted to go. If someone wants to save $20 and take their chances, it is their choice, just as others choose to drop their dime at a local shop. Its not bad or evil, its just a choice, that's it. When I first joined OAF I gave SIO3 some brand new fly line and shipped it to him for FREE. That's right, it was TOTALLY FREE. No one had a problem with that. What's wrong with a guy just trying to make a buck and survive like the rest of us? Keep your trunk open Brian Shaffer and next time I'm down that way, we can barter. Maybe I can trade you some furs for a pound of lard or something. Things seem to have gotten a little nasty on the old OAF boards since the winter weather has been less than stellar. If I offended anyone, too bad, you do not have a right not to be offended but feel free to PM me and cuss me out if you must. I'm a big boy.

Forsythian Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 So long as it is legal I'll buy what I want, from whomever I want. You don't have to like it, makes me no matter. Cenosillicaphobiac
flyfshn Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Patfish & JJ, I'm with you guys. I do support my local fly shops, BUT I have 3 teenagers and a wife to support. I appreciate the discount, so I can continue the sport I love. About a year ago, Phil offered a discount on Templefork fly rods to "stimulate the economy" and I bought two of them. Fish On! Members john19 Posted January 12, 2010 Members Posted January 12, 2010 I am with Michael and Troutgod on this one. I support the shops and always will they have stuff discounted in the shops that I will buy. In fact I was in a Readings right be for the parks closed and he had some fly lines that were on sale I bought 3 lines for $100. (they were 70 dollar/line) Not bad and I know if something happens to them Charlie will take care of me. I wonder what will happen if there are problems with any thing that is sold like this. Oh yea forsythian said as long as it is legal. I would assume that everything is being reported as either income or through the MDR as sales tax via a state issued sales tax number and the appropriate percent is being payed to our fine government.
