Members Frost1920 Posted January 14, 2010 Members Posted January 14, 2010 Yeah I just wanted to add some thanks. I haven't had the courage to pull my boat up and have to make the 50 mile, one way, trip only to find an ice skating rink. I will be up there Sunday afternoon pending your report! Surely there will be a ramp open somewhere! Which brings me to another question. When you guys are running down the lake (which in my boat is about 25mph) do you worry about ice? I mean, I know there aren't any Titanic sinkers out there, but are there the occasional sheet of ice floating around that you could blast? Or is most of it just coves and shoreline ice? This is my first winter owning a boat and it was just something I wondered about. By the way, This is now the hottest topic we have had in this forum since November and Oct 8th before that! Kindof dead around the Stockton Lake forum...
Members rookiefisher Posted January 14, 2010 Members Posted January 14, 2010 Ok guys finally got back on here, Old State park ramp 100% clear just wet, but the lake has 1 inch of ice on it just about 3/4 of way out of cove, should be melted by Saturday. State Park Marina ramp 90% clear, Ice on lake is 1 1/2 - 2 inches thick. Clear water at the lovely(useless) brakewater, I will check again Friday night and let you all know.
Dutch Posted January 14, 2010 Author Posted January 14, 2010 That is great info. You don't know how much I appreciate it. If you won't take money, will you take baits? If so what type fishing do you do and what kinds of baits do you use?
Members kcbear Posted January 14, 2010 Members Posted January 14, 2010 I second the motion-- Many thanks to rookiefisher and the others that have provided information on Stockton conditions over the last few days. It is 135 miles from my door to the ramps in Stockton. It is great to know what I will likely encounter when I back down those ramps. Thanks again, and keep it up. It will all come back to you in some good way!! KC Bear
Stockton Lake Guide Service Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 I got an excuse for not helping with the lake conditions! I was in Florida. Ramps were all open, no ice on the water!! Red snapper and grouper were biting great. Looks like this topic will be going again after this thursday and friday (Jan 28th and 29th) Calling for lots of snow 5-10". Anyone want to head back south for a couple of weeks??
