Members BJOHNSON Posted January 23, 2010 Members Posted January 23, 2010 Hello everyone! Cant wait for the round the clock dam generation to stop up here!!! Last monday afternoon, the norfork dam was shut down for a few hours and it was a welcomed reprieve from all the highwater! I moved to Arkansas almost two years ago and immediately fell in love with the raw beauty of the Ozarks, and the fishing. I must admit, the fishing here in Baxter County is MUCH better than Riverside, CA!!!!
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted January 24, 2010 Root Admin Posted January 24, 2010 Welcome to the Ozarks!
cotterboy2007 Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 Welcome. i live down around rim shoals, so we're sorta neighbors. Anyway, that is one impressive fish you are holding in your picture. What is the story behind it?
Danoinark Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 Welcome glad to have you....Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
Members BJOHNSON Posted January 28, 2010 Author Members Posted January 28, 2010 The story behind that Monster Trout was a year in the making! Having only lived in Arkansas for 1 year at the time I caught that trout, I still can't believe I was one of the luck guys to catch a brown that big. She weighed in at 11.56 lbs, was 28 inches long. I caught her with a frozen sculpin on a spin-reel at the mouth of the Norfork (where the White and Norfork come together). I'd been fishing there for about 2 hours that day, wading into the river in sandals and shorts because it was soooo hot. I was about 15 yards from the bank when she hit the bait and immediately I could tell it was a big fish. I tried to make my way slowly back to shore without tripping over rocks and falling in. I fought the fish for about 30 mins and when she was finally in front of me I realized that there was no way I could land her without a net. Well, I didn't bring a net with me so some other people who were there fishing ran over to the Norfork Trout Dock and got a net for me. I'm glad they were there cuz' not only did they get the net, but they had the camera to photograph it too!
gotmuddy Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 Welcome. I live in Salem, Ar and fish the white and norfork as often as I can. I went out Monday with a neighbor and caught two baby browns(18") everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
