First I want to thank all the guys who researched this topic further and gave some insight.

Second, I would like to give my opinion to the latest reply from (Vacation).

It sounds like you might have a part in the landing. I don't believe it is going provide revenue to anyone but local goverments and the people who have their hands in on it.

It will not help the blue collar workers by putting money in their pockets. Wages are to low and cost of living is going through the roof. Tell me how someone can buy a better bass boat that cost $40.000 on wages of $7-8 dollars an hour. And if they can afford the better boat, how will they pay for the gas to use it?

The one thing that I will get out of the Landing is I won't have to spend an arm & leg to drive to Springfield for fishing supplies anymore. It will only cost a leg.

I'm not sure of the sudden concerns about the Landing causing problems on TC fishing. The City of Branson has been dumping "treated sewer water" down stream from the Landing for years. The same with Springfield treatment plants dumping upstream.

You are right about the lakes being a gift. Their a gift from GOD, so who are we to fill the beautiful shorelines with ungly condos and other junk? Its called GREED, "the love of money". At what cost will it stop? I think we are seeing that cost now in the fisheries and water quality.

I don't know if you were around 20 years ago, but I'll tell you, The fishing quality & quantity were a whole lot better. And there weren't things like the landing/condos cluttering up the shorelines.

Vacation, You have got to be kidding. Just what we need in this area on an already completely taxed resource is more people using it.

When this project started it was said that the construction would consist of lots of local labor and that the business people opening the stores would be locals using locals for help.

From what I can determine over 90% of the construction is being done by contractors out of the area. Most of the stores and their owners are not from here and almost all are bringing in employee's.

The fishing dock the park and the small mom and pop resorts have been replaced by more concrete and mortor, just what this water shed needs, more concrete and less trees.

I would guess that you to are not from the area, or that you are involved in realestate. This is a fishing fourm and our members are concerned about the water shed and fisheries management. Not how much money can be made by tearing down long standing business and replacing them with out of place condo's, shops, and malls.

Just a thought.

I am at a loss for words.

The Landing- extremely poor choice of location.

A convention center is needed to compete with big markets. True but not every one wanted to compete. But that's the way of the free market- build and expand where it's needed/wanted.

The Landing- extremely poor choice of location.

Greed? Then most capital enterprise's motivation is greed. Not sure if I agree with that.

The Landing- extremely poor choice of location.

Effect fishing- it won't. Effect water quality- it shouldn't. Effect traffic on the lake- yes. Draw more people to town- yes. Draw more $$$ investment to town- it already has- and driving up land/property/building costs big time.

The Landing- extremely poor choice of location.

What would be a better location? I think it is a location that makes the most sense. It is easy to locate, traffic will be difficult to get there, but where in the area is this not a problem? They lost a ton of campground space, but $10 a night camping spots vs. the revenue from the new landing, not comparable. I agree there are a lot of greedy hands involved, but if you are going to put a project like this in the area, I think they picked the right spot. I know my wife is excited about it and I can't say that I'm not.

Better location would have been out off Shepherd of the Hills Esp. on the Motley place. Cheaper land and better access.

come on guys, the branson landing is huge money coming to town, money that wasnt made in taney county and isnt gonna stay in taney county. It aint going away. Some say change is good but I think change only helps the ones who allow it to help them.Take advantage of this, selll your house for 3 times what you paid for it and get what you want.Bransopn stopped being my home a long timwe ago, I was born and raised here and my parents are still living here sop I stay, Trust me its not the meca its made out to be.Drive over to little towns east of here 40 miles and get out of your car, listen to the birds, and its so quiet you can here a car 5 miles away.Thats living and dont forget .Oh and spell check isnt workin so yes im a hillbilly and dont forget it

i gotta agree with the previous message. im an outsider from st louis and ive been visiting your area for nearly 30 years. i commented to my freind as we were driving home how shocking it was that a LOT of the small businesses have closed up shop. there doesnt seem to be near as much locally owned commerce as there was in years past. i cant believe thats good to have local money spent and taken out of town, same thing is happening up here in st louis with those darn casinos. more and more small businesses are closing up shop because after the casinos take their cut ,folks dont have anything left to spend at the restaurants and bars. when i first started going to the place i now fish out of,there was a seven mile, one lane gravel road with hardly anyplace to pull over if you met oncoming traffic. now ,its paved all the way to the lake, well just short of the lake anyway. the runoff is eroding what is below the paving something awful. sure its nice to be able to get to town faster ,but at what price. i really think i would prefer it the way it was.

How many Maggie Moo's do we need? How many Bass Pro Shops are enough? Do we need more time shares and condo's? How much can this resource handle and still be the quality fishery that it is today?

Don't agree on the fishing. Wait until Bass Pro sends 50 rentals into the restricted area. I know I won't be a happy camper. I know that you don't think this is going to happen, but I was told that 40 percent of their landing rentals are going to be jet drives. I wonder why?

According to those who may or may not know, the stocking pattern on taney will have to change or the limit lowered. We are already at near maximum carrying capasity for harvest.

Say on the average we just put 50 additional people per day on the lake with a harvest of 2 trout per person, thats 36,500 additional fish harvested per year. I think that will hurt the fishery.

If additional stocking is put in place to help with the demand, you know the fish will be of smaller size and it will also put a strain on our bug population. with more fish needed to meet demand. We went thru this in the 70's

Rumor has it that the Bass Pro landing shop is really going to push the wade fishing aspect on the upper lake. I know that area needs another 10,000 waders per year.

Spoke to our old biologist today and he thinks it will be a nightmare that is just not going to end. The supply will just not be able to meet the demand.

I have to agree with a little of every one. I agree with Crappiefisherman that you can sell your house for three or more times what you bought it for. That will be the only thing you will get from the HUGE pot of gold. Wait about ten years Crappiefisherman, there will be a “Landing” in your back yard and you won’t like it a bit.

How far are we going to have to go to get away?

I agree with Bill and the potential problems on the upper TC. I do have to say though Bill, the jet drives are probably a smart thing. You can’t find a GPS system or maps good enough that can navigate some, no the majority of the boaters that will be heading that way. There will be metal flying everywhere. Maybe they can bring the NO BOATS cable down about two miles.

Are they not adding on to the fish hatchery? If so, imagine why.

SD the landing is indeed in my backyard.I live in a small subdivision between lakeshore drive estates and the mount branson area.It was a quiet neighborhood of 8 homes but now some jackass has bought 10 or so acres and is gonna build 52 houses.claims to be a neigbor at county meetings but I aint seen him .At least the landing hasnt taken the culdesac area away so now I cant even turn the ole crappie fishin battleship around.Ill sell you my 4 bedroom home thats 10 years old on one third acre for 300 large and ill even throw in a couple of bob tail cats that love crappie inards
