nwaoutdoorsman Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Can anyone tell me if your suppose to oil or grease the roller clutch bearing in a shimano curado? I've heard both and haven't gotten any solid answers yet. I've heard if I do it wrong it will allow my anti reverse to slip and I dont need that problem. Please help! Thanks!
Wayne SW/MO Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 I believe its light oil, no grease, which can tie up the rollers. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
fishinwrench Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 I clean them with spray carburetor cleaner, and then just wipe a little reel oil on the shaft. If you get grease, or too much oil in the bearing housing they will slip. Especially in cold weather.
Brian K. Shaffer Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 Moderator - move this to the rods reels section ? no ? Just once I wish a trout would wink at me! ozarkflyfisher@gmail.com I'm the guy wearing the same Simms longbilled hat for 10 years now.
Wayne SW/MO Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 Just a note, 3 and 1 oil that's available at most hardware's is a good reel oil, and inexpensive. Sewing machine oil is another good oil for reel bearings. You don't need an overpriced reel specific oil. If you're going to spend more, get Rocket Fuel or Hot Sauce, but they are strictly shaft bearing oils. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
