97procraft Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 I just picked up a few wiggle warts from BP today. I opened them up tonight to find out that one of them does not have a rattle in it. Has this happened to anyone before? I may keep it because I don't think I have ever had one with out a rattle. What do you guys think?
edyer Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 Sometimes the BB gets glued to the inside of the body. Amazing it doesn't happen more often.
Trav Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 Sometimes the BB gets glued to the inside of the body. Amazing it doesn't happen more often. I was going to say the same thing. It has happened to me as well. Try resting them in boiling water for about five minutes. I have found that when the bb is lodged it doesn't run true. If the heat doesn't work then drill a hole in it and fill the cavity with another bb. I have had some crazy results but don't take my word for it. CaptainJoe Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 I have had other baits do it, but never a Wiggle Wart. What I would do is to try the bait out and see if it runs true. If it does, I would use it. Reason: Sometimes bass prefer baits that do not rattle. Look at the new Switchback Bomber crankbait. You can turn the rattle off and on. If your Wiggle Wart runs true, you may have a fish catcher. If it does not run true, I would try the hot water idea. Break off the toothpick flush with the baits body, drip some super glue on the toothpick (liquid, not gel), and the toothpick will wick up the glue and seal the hole.
edwin Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 any chance the silent one you picked up is a suspending model? I have some of the older Warts, all the suspenders don't rattle. "Advantages are taken, not handed out"
RSBreth Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 Funny, I'd like them to do a run of "silent" Warts. Some of my best cranks for clear water conditions are "stealth' (silent) cranks.
