Bill Babler Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 17 degrees at the start this morning with a hurricane wind out of the North, blowing straight up Taneycomo with 4 heavy generators coming down. Just about an impossible condition, for our fishery. Have fished the Gold Mine area for the last week, and it has just about dried up. Last week it was great, but huge prussure coming from both down lake and up concentrating on the stretch has pretty much mined it dry. Last week, catching 30 to 50 fish in 4 hrs. down there mostly on jigs. Yesterday with a combination of bait and jigs 4 fish, all throw backs. Tried again today, just cause I couldn't catch them anywhere else and skunked, down there. Ended up with 8 keepers thru the landing. Caught a total of 8 fish in 6hrs. today. I have two trips tomorrow, so I will need my thinking cap on. It is going to be freezing at 13 degrees to start the morning, and again, heavy generation, and a North wind. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Bill Babler Posted February 25, 2010 Author Posted February 25, 2010 Phil tells me his guests are still doing well below Bee Creek, and it may just have been a bad few days for us down there. Just cause we didn't catch them the last few days, does not mean there is still not fish holding in the area, we just could not figure them out. It is very tough for me right now, and I am scratching. This is weather and water related. Just no pattern, due to the cold and the sparatic generation. Very confusing. Good Luck http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted February 25, 2010 Root Admin Posted February 25, 2010 We have these issues when the water temp is this cold. I remember years back when the temp drops below 40 the trout seem to slow down or at least that's what we blamed it on. 38 is pretty cold!
Members BIG K Posted February 26, 2010 Members Posted February 26, 2010 Hmmmmm has anyone tryed the bluff bank across from Blue Haven down to were it flattens out at Bee creek sometimes that can be an overlooked good stretch of rock. most folks just fly right by it. Some of my biggest trout every year come from there. I wish i was there now i wouldnt be sitting here spilling my guts about one of my little hidey holes.
Bill Babler Posted February 26, 2010 Author Posted February 26, 2010 Big K, that is not to huge of a secret. As a matter of fact the conservation dept. stocks off their ramp their quite abit. That set of fish usually keeps the Landing to Bee Creek in pretty good shape. Thanks for the info however, it is a very good location. Wish you were here catchin-em. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
