duckydoty Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 Got a little fishing in below the park today with Pflugradt and his buddy Steve. Had a good time and caught a few fish. Polish nymphing picked up most of my fish today with alot of weight to get my sow bugs down. Did catch one little bow on a klinkhamer too. Love that fly. Pflugradt managed to bring in the biggest fish out of the three of us today. The mad house will start Monday! A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Paola Cat Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 Hey Pflugradt .... did you give that 4 weight a go? Nice fish. DD ... I went to the furthest upstream Wire Road Access on Crane today. Lots of hungry fish in the creek. Did OK. Caught about as many fish as flies lost in the brush entanglement. Some of the trees look like Christmas trees (with all the flies hanging in them). There are some real nice fish in there ... but they're pretty savvy. Saw one angry beaver and walked up on an giant attack armadillo ... pretty freaky .... almost had to give it a boot. PC Cheers. PC
duckydoty Posted February 28, 2010 Author Posted February 28, 2010 Sounds like you had a great day. I think Steve is going back to Crane tomorrow to give it another try. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners
Wayne SW/MO Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 Duckydoty did you ever fish right below 86 in the winter? Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
duckydoty Posted February 28, 2010 Author Posted February 28, 2010 Duckydoty did you ever fish right below 86 in the winter? Nope. Wasn't me....I fishing in the park all through C&R. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners
Wayne SW/MO Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 I wasn't asking because I saw someone, but because I know they are caught down there in the winter. I've never managed one however. I read, a few years back, about someone catching a 2-3# 'Bow in TR near RR, in the winter of course. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
duckydoty Posted February 28, 2010 Author Posted February 28, 2010 I have never fished down there, but I think Tim has. My brother-in-law 2 years ago caught a 3 pound rainbow by Coney Island on Table Rock. I guess when the water gets cold enough them trout go exploring all over Table Rock. This may not be what you are looking for but, one time back in the very early 80's, dad I were fishing down a ways from from Eagle Rock and he caught one in the 3lb range while we were fishing for crappie. I think we may be surprised about just how many trout call T-Rock home. I think we may be surprised about just how many trout call T-Rock home. I told this story once before on the crane creek forum. In the mid to late 80's, I caught a 2.5 lb "brown" at the tressel bridge on crane. It was either an accidental, or unknown stocking, or it migrated from RR thru TR. The latter probably being the case.
