Dutch Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 Stay away from cheap house brand of Wally world reels. Go for Shimano, Daiwa, or Abu. Like stated $100 and up will give you a dependable reel that will last 30 years if you treat it right. Personally, I am part of the Shimano posse and recommend that you buy a Citica. While you are buying get yourself a few sizes of casting plugs and some cheap Excell line. Have fun and learn to pick out the backlashes.
Wayne SW/MO Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 You might try the Outlet store. They have some good reels cheap which could get you started. Just make sure that the right hand spool knob will stop the spool. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Members freelancer 11 Posted March 7, 2010 Members Posted March 7, 2010 I think that the Pro Qualifier from BPS is a good starter, then upgrade.
