Rusty
Has anyone had any experience with this service and/or product? The portability of this seems really convenient, and the cost appears to be in line. Thanks for any input.
Kansas Fly Fisher
Russ, I haven't had any personal experience with XM radio. But, I have several friends that keep telling me I need to switch to it. They all swear by it and say it's the best thing going in radio. You can get channels that play your type of music only. But, of course you know that already. I have one friend in particular that does a lot of traveling and she tells me that she never looses the channel regardless of where she goes. In other words, you don't have to channel surf as you drive down the highway like with regular AM or FM. Hope this helps. timsfly
The XM radio is a great invention, on trips out west, there are areas where you can't pick up any radio station, and on the interstate it keeps you from looking for stations, just set it on the kind of music or talk you like and listen the whole trip, I wouldn't give up my XM radio now, I've had service with them for about 2 years now, it is worth the monthly fee. Rusty
What about the portable Delphi XM2GO receiver? I was wondering if the built in antenna worked well. I am going to be using it while working indoors and outdoors. It appears to be a clip on the belt system. I have experienced a loss in reception on a mountain by Chattanooga Tennessee. But it was short lived, 30 seconds.
Members J-Mar
Most of the people I know that have satellite radio have Sirius and they love it. I'd get Sirius instead because of Radio Margaritaville
Members Packman
I use Sirius...I find they have the better programming. Plus they are the only one with the contract to NFL football and college also. This means you will never miss a gmae.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted May 22, 2006 Root Admin Share Posted May 22, 2006 We dropped Sirius and went to XM when Sirius picked up Howard Stren - call it a protest or whatever but we weren't going to support that kind of programing.
CaptainT16
I would have to agree, I really like my XM. I am happy with the service, and can't believe they didn't come up with this sooner. Good stuff! Members Packman
I agree about stern...the stock even went down after that loser stern, and I own it. There has been talk of that being a short lived deal....I would change but I payed for 2 years in advance, and really enjoy the football. With all that said they are both pretty comparable. jOrOb
I do have a MyFi XM receiver. It is a feature filled unit, and works pretty well for me, but has some limits. First, the original units had battery issues. Check yours out if you get one. Second, the MyFi built in antenna is not exceptionally effective. In the open, sitting still, it works, but it isn't strong. They do make a headphone with built in antenna which is supposed to make it useable while jogging and such. I don't have the headphones so I cannot say how they work. Third, mine doesn't broadcast the FM signal very far. I cannot leave it in the truck and listen in the house like many of the old Roady's would do. The bonus is that it comes with a home cradle and antenna so you can just carry it into the house and drop in the cradle. Also, it is supposed to record up to 5 hrs of signal, which would allow you to record the previous night and listen to it later. I haven't really figured that out yet, so I don't know how well it works. I have been pleased with my MYFI. I don't really utilize the features, but the car and home kits alone make it worth the additional expense. jOrOb jOrOb "The Lord has blessed us all today...
