Jason Essary Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Does anyone fish Big Indian Creek near baxter much? Ive got a job that will but me right off of an access in the back of the main creek arm. Didnt know if anyone finds any whites up there or crappie maybe. Never ventured out that way much and just curious to see what others have done. Not looking for specific gps points just some basic patterns. Not looking for specific gps points just some basic patterns. Thanks Jason, I have fished Big Indian for a few years. For White Bass, go all the way back and on your left there is an old bridge structure under water on the flats. Not always, but a few times I have caught alot of White Bass on that gravel flat. Also the Cedars and hardwoods along the channel will hold good crappie early and obviously they move to the banks to spawn. Be sure to stay in the Channel to get to the back. Worth fishing and can be very productive. Might see you there. Be in a 20 ft. Champion with Merc. 200 red and gray!!!

TRRANGER Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 Jason, I fished a tourney last May and my partner I caught 2 whites that were huge, biggest either of us have seen. We were throwing a big swim jig and thought I had a true kicker, disappointed but was a blast at the time. Caught lots of fsih in that area. I like that area. I fish an 87 gray/maroon Ranger 360. Maybe see you in area. Stop n say hey. TR (Timmy)

Jason, I don't really crappie fish in the Baxter area much, I have caught a few in the trees on channel swings with a grub while fishing for bass (no bass in Baxter). I can tell you in years past we have been finding whites on the flat banks in the back of Big Indian until around late March. Then most of the whites I've seen are out on the main lake flats accross from the mouth of Baxter, they will usually show up early and late in the day from late April thought the summer. But as far as I can tell there are no bass in the Baxter area.......Wouldn't even waste your time with a wiggle wart or jig, just wind up loosing baits and wasting time.....
