Greg, I rarely use a deep diving jerkbait. I'm not sure about on LOZ but on clear water like Table Rock sometimes the fish hang out a little deeper. The other thing I would keep in mind is water temp. If the water is in the low 40's or colder then I might use a deep diver. Early in the day might be a good time to use a deep diver. Sometimes the fish don't seem to be up shallow until the sun has been shining for several hours.

The thing about deep diving jerkbaits is not that they go deeper, but rather the action that they have. They can really pay off when the water is below 46 degrees because you can fish them slower.

When you're giving the baits little 10 inch "lazy pulls" the deep divers act more alive.

Not really. On Lake O. when the water is clear enough, about 4-6 feet vis., then the deepe3r jerkbaits will pull bass from deeper water tbetter than han shallower running ones. If its dingy color water as it has been this year, fish all jerkbaits close to the banks. Having fished all last week down there in the clouds and sun, all the jb bites that I know of came rather close to the bank. And it wasn't easy most days! Deeper jerks get stronger with increased clarity, not just colder situations.
