well we have all had days that start off slow, then things look like they might pick up. On tuesday, I took out some guys from Nebraska and we had a few fish. Great guys that were having lots of fun, and didn't give up easily. We ended the trip with 27 keepers, several over 1lb each. Not a bad day for a cold n wind and a little rain etc.

fish for crappie on channel drops in 10 foot of water with jigs. color didn't matter. some big fish

bass are on jerkbaits on points and up the creeks.

walleye are on the lucky strike (literally) jig while crappie fishing. can't get them to hit my jerkbait, but have heard of some being caught.

sorry about short report. got to get to bed. Going again in the morning.

wont let me upload a pic. I will keep trying

noted....I saw fish and shuddered.

Truth be known...walleye are more of a valuable recource here in the Ozarks than bass. They aren't as prolific here as their counterparts up north.

I release everything but let us NOT open the "catch and release debate" again. It is so dead. That horse is already being fed to the dogs.

Marty...

I have a link to both my email and my Facebook page on my OzarkAngler profile. Feel free to use either if you want to communicate with me in the future. It is all good.

"Trav",

What if every person fishing released every fish they caught? What if every deer hunter passed on every single deer he saw? You think those big bass and walleye would ever get big if they had to compete with an over abundance of little fish? Fishing serves the same purpose as hunting. Also, most every angler that posts to this forum follows MDC guidelines to a T. If you have a problem with Missouri laws and regulations, maybe this forum is not where you should voice your opinions. But this is mine: I think you should keep your comments to yourself or contact PETA and become a lifetime member. The latter seems more up your alley. Again, that is just one mans opinion. Feel free to consult me in person if you have any questions. Thanks.

Being I'm new to the board I'm going to kick the horse.

Most of what we do as sportsmen we do because of our love of life. We fish, we hunt, we support groups and hang with friends and acquaintances of like mindedness. I use to hunt the crap out of ducks and geese. Can't stand to eat the critters so all I do now is call those babies in and enjoy the success. If I have someone with me who feels differently and wants to shoot 'em, more power to them. Same with fishing. If I'm on the water the day is fine. If we're into some good eaters (Walleye, crappie) by God they're in the boat. But filling the livewells is not my goal. Speaking directly to catch and release, imo, that is a collective mindset. If the users of a particular body of water know that water needs help then it is up to us/them to do our best effort to convey it to everyone. And yeah, you'll have some turds who say screw you but most likely they're not on anyone's list of friends who is a sportsman.
