straw hat Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 Frost1920; All I can say is that I didn't read Ann's comments that way. I would rather focus on the challenge of catching fish.
Members Frost1920 Posted March 22, 2010 Members Posted March 22, 2010 I'm not worried about anyone's comments at all. I've already dropped the subject. Right now I'm just loving the weather here in the ozarks. 4 inches of snow yesterday, and its all but melted and 50 today, and mid 60's tomorrow! A solid week or so of warm temps and we will all be in business.
BolivarBasser Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 Let's close this can of worms and move on. Please. Anyone want to go fishing wednesday or Thursday afternoon?
mrgungho Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 Fisrt of all, I thought this was the Stockton Lake fishing report. If we could get some info up here on how the Blacks and Smalls are biting, that would be great. I am wanting to try to get a good idea how it's going this week so I can decide between Table Rock and Stockton. I work 8 to 5 Monday-Friday and I am going this weekend no matter what. Let me know if you have any news on how the fish are biting. As far as I see the whole keep or release issue...Game and Fish factor in the "poachers" and they assume every fisher is going to be keeping their limits as well. Also, they consider all the other factors that are out of their control when deciding on limits and sizes etc...I think we're going to be ok here even if a few folks may not be the most ethical fishers. I personally catch and release everything unless it's going on the wall. Anyways, let me know what's going on up Stockton way because I'd love to come up there Saturday and do some fishing. Hopefully this rain they are talking about mid week will be nice and warm..the faster we get to 60 degree surface temp the better! Members MissouriBreaks Posted March 22, 2010 Members Posted March 22, 2010 How many of you catch a limit of crappie or a big walleye or a big bass and pause a second to say Thank you Lord. I do everytime.
Fly_Guy Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 Been following this topic and a thanks to Ann for getting it sivulized again. Here's hoping this next week will be enough to get the walleye on the move. I've only caught one keeper this year so far. Keep us posted - the thread "Fishing Report" will draw my eye because it will hopefully contain fishing reports. Thanks! Brian
Members mikeb Posted March 22, 2010 Members Posted March 22, 2010 I love the catch and release zealots. tournament fisherman probably kill 10 times more fish than I will by eating one or two every so often. I either release the fish NOW or plan to kill it. I don't drag it up from 40 feet put it in a livewell for 7 hours dragging it all around the lake at many different water temps and chemical makeups then dragging it 20 miles from where it was caught at 70 mph and putting it thru a weigh in and releasing it in shallow water. If you have ever kept aquarium fish you know STRESS kills fish. Just because a fish is put back into the water doesn't mean it will be caught again later. http://www.bassdozer.com/articles/manns/hook_in_out.shtml this article has a lot of interesting info... I am not totally on one side or the other just an observer. Should C&R fisherman refrain from using a carolina rig because of the mortality rate ? People should behave in a responsible and ethical manner, never take more than they need. I practice catch and release 90+ percent of the time. I never take the biggest fish. my 2 cents worth. Mike
Stockton Lake Guide Service Posted March 23, 2010 Author Posted March 23, 2010 Sometime it is a bit better if they don't have sense of humor. While on the Eleven Point last year my buddy forgot his fishing license and relized it halfway down the river. I told him that if we were checked they can call and find out if you purchased one. Well sure enough we were checked they tried to call to confirm he bought one. They told us to go on down river and when they got ahold of the store where he bought it they would stop back by. They also said that he better of bought it for the right day, since he was an out of towner. Well about thirty minutes later the two agents run right up to us in there jet boat, jump up on the deck of there boat, and say " Alright boys, turns out you bought it for friday instead of saturday, were going to have to run you down river and take you back to the station....", then says " what do you think I should do about this" were like well obviosly let us go on a frickin technicality lol. About that time they jump back in the driver seat and say " ahhh were just screwin with you guys, your legal have a good trip."...not funny!!! Come on, that's funny. You got to admit that if none of them had a sense of humor we would all be complaining about that also.
