The subject of catch and release is an important one but something that concerns me more is the increase I have seen lately in taking illegal quantities of fish. I saw one person lately with a bucket full of 10" white bass. When asked he said that he figured he had about 20 and they were still hitting. When another person said the limit was 15 he said for us to go to .... I have meet several people during the last few years that catch a limit of crappie during the spawn, go home and clean them and then come back and catch another limit. There have been other instances as well during the last few years. These people are going to ruin our resource and I hope the new agent puts a stop to these activities. I hope I have not offended anyone on this site but this is something I fell strongly about.

That's the type I'm talking about, straw hat. In some cases it's pure ignorance, other's poaching. Regardless, the law requires us to be knowledgeable. No offense taken.

well I can tell you this my wife and I fished for only a couple of hours tonight and got checked by an undercover conservation agent (showed us his badge when he walked up) and he was checking everybody that was at orleans. nice guy and glad he was out checking. He and his partner were in an unmarked boat fishing as well.

The report I caught 1 short (6") LM threw him back and fshed for another hour and that was it not even anymore bites.

Straw hat, you mention 'new agents'. Bring me up to date on that if you would please. Totally new to Stockton so any history or news would be welcome.

Thanks man.

Hey Bob, I can't believe he called you Marty!

I saw that. I am going to take a pic of me releasing a fish and post it on my page, but I love to eat fish. I love to fish also. As long as we don't all overdo it and we leave a couple for seed then we should all be able to have fun for a long time.

I'm sure that the conservation agents would love to hear about what type of vehicle etc he was driving. We have some awesome agents around here. If anyone sees someone keeping to many, or keeping short fish etc, give them a call and report the guy. Some people have a problem stopping when the fish are biting good, but if we all did that then fishing would go down hill pretty quick. You can call the country sheriff dept and to report and they will contact the agent on duty/for the county you are in.

As far as the cleaning and then going back out, people need to remember that even if you "give your limit" away in the morning, you can't go back out and get another limit that afternoon.

You don't even have to give your name etc to report someone doing these things.

OK, Murray state is back on, got to go.

Have to say ....the idea of dead bass on a "pose board" is sooooo disturbing.......

noted....I saw fish and shuddered.

I release everything but let us NOT open the "catch and release debate" again....

If you truly meant the second quote you wouldn't have made the first one...

Well make up your mind.. Feller..

I'm having a plate full of Largemouth tonight, in your honor... ;)

Gilly; A new agent took over Stockton last year. He is a young man, tall and slender. He has checked me around 6 or 7 times now. He seems to be rather serious with little sense of humor. A very "by the book" type of person but on the other hand I have not found him to be rude or unfair either. I can tell you one thing!!! He is quieter than an indian when walking through the woods. I have great hearing and I never hear him coming!!!

Bob; Unluckily the county sheriff's office has always required that I give my name. In one case I later ran into the offending party and a few of his freinds (6 people in total)on the lake. He new who I was and threatened my wife and I both with serious bodily harm. If there hadn't been some other bank fisherman around to help I don't know what would have happened. Later I called the sheriff's office and they said the name was a matter of public record and could be released if requested. Since that incident I have not called again.

Sometime it is a bit better if they don't have sense of humor. While on the Eleven Point last year my buddy forgot his fishing license and relized it halfway down the river. I told him that if we were checked they can call and find out if you purchased one. Well sure enough we were checked they tried to call to confirm he bought one. They told us to go on down river and when they got ahold of the store where he bought it they would stop back by. They also said that he better of bought it for the right day, since he was an out of towner. Well about thirty minutes later the two agents run right up to us in there jet boat, jump up on the deck of there boat, and say " Alright boys, turns out you bought it for friday instead of saturday, were going to have to run you down river and take you back to the station....", then says " what do you think I should do about this" were like well obviosly let us go on a frickin technicality lol. About that time they jump back in the driver seat and say " ahhh were just screwin with you guys, your legal have a good trip."...not funny!!!
