I'm headed to Georgia and Alabama this week for a work trip, gonna take a detour on Tuesday to do some fishing at Callaway Gardens with a co-worker. Delta wants $175 fee per direction to check my fishing rods...ouch! Rather than waste the cash on that, I'm gonna pick up a new rod while I'm down there and ship it home on the brown trucks.

I read some great reports on the Falcon rods. I'm thinking of adding a good, all around 6'6" MH to the arsenal. I'm thinking of picking up the Cara T7 CC-5-166MH at the moment. I'm open to / would appreciate suggestions of other models to consider. Thanks in advance!

The Eakin's jig rod....

....seems pretty versatile, too. I love mine, and plan on getting another. I'm sure that Cara is an excellent rod, tho.

Bill P, you are right on the money with that Jig Rod. That Lowrider is hard to beat. That is, until you pick up the split-grip Cara T7 Finess Jig Rod. I am using them for spinnerbaits, and jigs up to 1/2 oz. It is also a great long rod to throw either a light swimbait or better yet, a fantastic Redfin rod.

Can't go wrong with either.

Bill P, you beat me to to the Eakins Jig rod. It is allittle longer than you are looking for at around 6'10" but an excellent rod. I have a few of them and they are great for spinnerbaits as well as jigs up to 1/2oz FB. I am sure the cara is as nice if not nicer but for a few extra $ you are still getting an excellent rod.

That's exactly why I haven't 'picked-up' the Cara. I KNOW what'll happen...... Looked at the Cara jerkbait rod. Sweet. I realized I have several quality rods that can do the job well, and I'm gonna hold off for now.

An older American Made Quantum Tour TC665F, and an AllStar 806W IM10 6'8". The Allstar has been my Super Fluke rod for 5 yrs or more, but is quite versatile.

Hadn't used the Quantum rod for at least 5 years, and when I put a new Ardent reel on it,and threw a McStick.....I realized how fine it really is.

Wanted to close this out. I truly appreciate the help on the rod suggestions. It didn't work out to get to a Falcon dealer, so I picked up a St Croix Avid 6'6" MH. Nice rod for sure...but it's definitely on the stiffer side of MH. Since this trip, I've picked up a Cara T7 Finesse Jig Rod with split handle and a Cara T7 6'6" "All Around Cast". IMHO, the Falcons are definitely more my style. They're super sensitive, the handles are fantastic, and they seem like a really solid rod. I like the Jig Rod so much that I went and bought a Calais for it tonight...what a combo!

Thanks again,

edwin
