GloryDaze Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 Here are a few pics- like I said, don't hold a candle and not all nature shots but here is some from our trip. http://www.flickr.com/photos/glorydaze/sets/72157623563561959/ Follow me on Twitter @DazeGlory
KCRIVERRAT Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 I've always wanted to float the Mulberry. There's a few hairy spots on it ain't there? Of course river levels change the picture I'm sure. Just wondering, is it a decent smallmouth stream? If so, is there a stretch, during the summer, that is known for the fishing? Also, how's the scenery? I'm sure it's beautiful but if any of you guys would comment I'd appreciate it! I'd be floating it in a 17' Old Town. KC HUMAN RELATIONS MANAGER @ OZARK FISHING EXPEDITIONS

It's a hoot of a river but you'd better respect it's power. I was in Lewis & Clark today pricing kayaks. I'll have a new one by this weekend. Can't wait to take it out! GloryDaze Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 KC- I've floated it 2 times, both when the gauge at Turner bend read right at 2'. At that level you would be good in your Old Town, but I'm told if you really want to hit the big water go when it's over 3' and an open canoe with no flotation will get swamped. There are definitely some hairy spots even with the water level low- it has alot of ledges on the lower section and alot of twisting and turning through tight sections on the upper. My buddy, who floated it for the first time last trip said "It has just enough rapids to keep you on your toes, and just enough breaks between them to get your heart rate to slow down" Don't know about fishing- although I did catch the fish of the day- a 16" largemouth on our recent trip. Russ (Wacky Worm) has the pics on his camera. Follow me on Twitter @DazeGlory
ColdWaterFshr Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 I've floated the upper section from Wolf Pen a couple times, but always in early spring, like now, when it is up around 2.5 ft on the gauge. It will definitely keep you on your toes. Lots of tricky little spots, and lots of bailing in an open canoe. Wouldn't want to bring alot of fishing gear or tackle -- you could easily lose it. Water is real pretty, deep emerald green. Beautiful area. Nice pictures!!
wacky worm Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 sorry to trash your thread with trashy pics but i guess i had to add glory daze, monster bass ken your pics are awesome that trip was a blast i think the lower section from turner down at a level of 2 or so is perfect for first timers i have been told the fishing is awesome we caught fish and we really didnt try that hard there is a lake down by the mulberry called shores lake the one pic is from the bluff maybe 300 feet up the other is the hand built dam and spillway see pics this lake is awesome keep floating russ Russ Stovall OAF FISHING CONTIBUTOR www.hogheavencanoe.com
