Members Zac Seale Posted March 26, 2010 Members Posted March 26, 2010 Considering night fishing over in Maze Creek tonight. Anyone been over there since all this rain? Wondering if it is worth it or not. Usually its okay if the water is a little higher, but with all this cold rain it may be too muddy and cold to catch anything. Any opinions would be appreciated. Thanks!
Members Zac Seale Posted March 29, 2010 Author Members Posted March 29, 2010 No, we checked the weather before we left and saw it was going to be blowing pretty hard and getting colder, plus the truck we were take had questionalbe wiring for the trailer lights so we stayed home and watched a few basketball games. The lake was so murky and high I just figured we'd try later this week after all this nice weather they are calling for.
Dutch Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Better check the winds before you go. It is supposed to rock and roll this week and we don't need any more Stockton drownings.
Members Zac Seale Posted March 29, 2010 Author Members Posted March 29, 2010 Definitely, me and a buddy got caught ina T-Storm last year and it was a wild ride to say the least. It really doesn't matter what kind of boat you have on stockton when it is windy that lake gets crazy.
straw hat Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Fished Maze Creek today. Slightly muddy but fishable. Caught about 30 crappie, 7 keepers. All very deep (20"). Visibility 1'.
Members Zac Seale Posted March 29, 2010 Author Members Posted March 29, 2010 Were you way back in the creek? Usually I crappie fish a bunch of main lake brush piles, and the fairly close to the mouth of the Maze. The water has still been pretty cold everywhere on the main lake I've tried.
straw hat Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 I was drifting nearly down the center of the cove. I would say most of them came at 16' to 20' of water. They were not oriented to timber or anything else. They just seemed to be suspended over deep water and scattered. The water temperature was fairly good (51 F) and the bite was slow but consistant nearly all day. When I did get a bite they hit it pertty well. P.S. I just noticed that they still haven't found those missing fisherman. I probably saw 9 or 10 boats buzz by today and not one of them was wearing a lifejacket.
straw hat Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 I forgot to tell you, I was around 1/3 to 1/2 way abck in the cove.
