Members ssteph Posted April 2, 2010 Members Posted April 2, 2010 I'm coming down to TR from Kansas in May and then on to Memphis for a college graduation. Is US 65 a good road through AR down to Little Rock? I drive a 40' motorhome and tow a jeep. Thanks for the help guys, I really love your lake and appreciate the info on the forum. Good catchin'
Dutch Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 It is a good road but there are two better ways depending on where you are in KS.

Members ssteph Posted April 2, 2010 Author Members Posted April 2, 2010 I'm coming down from KC and staying at Indian Point for a couple of days and then on to Memphis. 65 seemed like the best option from there.
Members Ping Posted April 2, 2010 Members Posted April 2, 2010 You really have two good choices: Option 1: 65 to Little Rock (pretty hilly and mostly two lane, especially the first hour and a half from Branson)and then 40 to Memphis (they are always working on that road and it seems to be rough, but it is flat. It is shorter than option 2 Option 2: Go back north on 65 to Springfield and then go west on 60 Hwy to I-55 and then south to Memphis (this will be longer by probably 60 miles, but it is almost all 4 lane and it is much flatter (except for the first 20 miles toward Springfield) Good luck and be safe. Whack'emGood Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 For what it's worth... I am an over the road trucker, and we travel that stretch of 65 just fine with a 53 foot trailer and weighing up to 80,000 lbs... it is alot better road than it used to be. Take 65 down to Conway, where you get on I40. I40 is a great road from there to Memphis. Have fun! I'm going to fish my style and make it work for me." -KEVIN VANDAM "Confidence is the best lure in your tackle box." -GERALD SWINDLE "A-Rig? Thanks, but no thanks. If I can't catch them on the conventional tackle that I already use, then I guess I just can't catch them." -LK (WHACK'EM)
Dutch Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 You only left two little items out of your query: your point of origin and the fact that you will be staying at the lake for a few days. So my recommendation is Hwy 65 down to I40.
skeeter Posted April 3, 2010 Posted April 3, 2010 Like Whackem said, 65 is fine. It is now four lane divided from Springfield, MO to Harrison, AR. And if you should choose option # 2 in one of the previous posts, you would want to turn East ( Oopsie !) on Highway 60, not West.
Members ssteph Posted April 3, 2010 Author Members Posted April 3, 2010 Thanks for all the help. Being the adventurous type, I may take option 1 going down and option 2 coming back!
