Members Okiedog Posted April 5, 2010 Members Posted April 5, 2010 I know this report is a little late, had to work since then and havent had a chance anyways here goes. Cricket creek found 60 degree water by the big island, was very windy, felt like I was on Truman, not Table Rock, water was downright muddy. didnt fish there long, no luck. then went to Beardsley, water was very clear, on 49 degrees, there were live and dying shad all over the place with several thousand birds dining on them, water was still and cold, didnt have much luck so I went looking for an area that was more of a mixture between between muddy cricket and clear beardsley. Went to Clevenger and found some 52 degree, off colored water blowing into a ledge and killed them. Caught at least 20 fish on about a 40 yard stretch, only two keepers though, a smallie and a spot. the others were close to 15 inches, a mix of blacks, smallies, and spots, maybe a few more even a little over 15 but I was not measuring, really didnt care a whole lot, was having a real good time and got a real good sunburn. caught em all on the grub. till next time, good luck and good fishing oh, and whomever filleted the 8 big ole spots at 86 and left there carcass at the ramp, would it be too much to ask to wait AT LEAST until after they have spawned??
motoman Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 ............ oh, and whomever filleted the 8 big ole spots at 86 and left there carcass at the ramp, would it be too much to ask to wait AT LEAST until after they have spawned?? - Good report Okie. Sounds liek some nice action. - I don't understand people who clean spots/smallies/largemouth. If you want meat, why not Crappie and Whites? You can catch more of those than you can shake a stick at.
Bill Babler Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 Okiedog, Yes it would for these "Idiots" to wait. Always happens this time of year at 86 and at Baxter. The shame is the dead fish at 86, were half wasted. It looks like they were filleted with a chainsaw. After they got done, they didn't end up with enough to hardly stink one skillet. I counted 10 carcusses, with just about half the meat on each body wasted. I bet if Quinton whould have seen them they would have gotten a ticket for Wanton Waste of Wildlife. If you feel you must kill these pregnunt females, at least for gosh sakes do a decent job of cleaning them. Down on Taney this morning, there were two guys filleting trout on Phil's dock with a electric knife. I saw both of them clean two fish each, and throw all 4 fish and the small fillets they had butchered away. One of them commented, "These "Blankin" fish are not even big enough to clean." I had to stepin here and said, "Boys, let me do one for you. I filleted a very nice trout, smaller than what they had butchered, and gave them two nice fillets. I fillet with a Rapala 11 inch fillet knife. "NOT ELECTRIC." Phil has knives in the office if you need them, I got them one and they did a good job the rest of the way. For most of our area panfish, you need to stick that electric fish waster where the sun does not shine and then turn that meat wasting buzzsaw on. If you cannot take the time to clean 4 trout or 5 bass the correct way, 'Don't Kill Them." The electric chainsaw is only useful for Big, and I mean Big Crappie, White Bass, Catfish, and Big Walleye. All else should be filleted with a hand fillet knife. If your in to big a hurry, you know my answer to that. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com

That kind of patience goes a long way to educate someone, where a scolding or tongue lashing typically would've raised their defensive side.
