Ham Posted June 16, 2010 Author Posted June 16, 2010 What size bottom bouncers do you guys like to use? Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Mike Worley Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 I'm mostly using 1 1/2- 2oz depending on if the rod is rigged with braid or mono. If your question is related to depth I've been catching walleyes anywhere from as shallow as 14' to as deep as 40'.
Ham Posted June 16, 2010 Author Posted June 16, 2010 You guys have been very helpful with depth range that the fish have been holding at and I appreciate it. I had bought some bottom bouncers for dragging stuff for crappie, but I don't think they are anything near that heavy. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
rangerman Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 I done pretty well around Lead Hill this week and used 1 1/2 ounce bouncers. 2 ouncers were to heavy and seemed to get snagged more. Caught them everywhere from about 14 feet down to 30 feet. My bigger fish came from trolling larger cranks in the deeper water. Like AW nothing over about 21 or 22 inches. I want to find the BIG eyes. They are around somewhere.
Ham Posted June 18, 2010 Author Posted June 18, 2010 Anyone ever try dragging flutter spoons behind B/B. A buddy picked up some wildly colored spoons that are fairly light that I'm going to try. I got a few heavier B/B yesterday. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
rangerman Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 Never tried them Ham but they would probably work better behind a snap or trolling weight weight.
Mike Worley Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 Bull Shoals walleye are still on the bite and the fishing can only be rated as excellent. We fished the Mid-south walleye tournament out of Oakland marina yesterday and finished in second place. The keeper fish weren't really too hard to find but the thunderstorm kind of got in the way of us catching the kicker fish we needed to win. But thats the way it goes some time. We had a great time. The weather really cooled down after the thunderstorm blew though but the walleye bite continued to be good all day. We caught keeper walleyes on crawler / spinner rigs, slow death spinner rigs and large Reef Runner crank baits. I'm sure many of the members of this forum are aware of the fact that I recently retired from my full time job. I now have plenty of time to spend on the lake and since I really enjoy teaching people the things I have learned over the past 30 years of fishing Bull Shoals Lake I am starting a guide service. If anyone is interested in the details please send me a email.
