If it doesn't rain anymore, my guess will be high but floatable by Wednesday. A couple of the Current regulars will probably chime in here with acceptable cfs flows for that section. Looks like average flows for this time of year is around 400-500 cfs (based on only 8 years of data...so take that with a grain of salt), and it's at about 700 and dropping now.

I check the river level at Montauk generally. The river is perfect for me from the park down to Akers when in the 150-250 cfs range at that gauge. When you start getting above 300 its going to get a little high and fast. I don't check the downstream gauge b/c I don't mess around down there much. If the rain holds off, the river is at 150 right now, so it'll be a little on the shallow side between tan vat and Baptist. I'd suggest wading from tan vat to baptist and floating from there. Watch out for the fallen tree downstream of Baptist. If you don't portage around it, you'll be in trouble. I don't know anything about the river downstream of cedar grove.

I believe Eric is referring to the Akers gauge and I really don't know what you want to look for on that one.

Cute animals taste better.

Yes, it's the Akers gage. I posted the link to it because he mentioned going down to Pulltite. That's the gage I would watch if I was doing that float.

Drove by the Current on the way home from the NFoW yesterday...The water was perfect, up a tad with just a bit of cloud in the water.....Only fished for an hour, but I caught 7...One on a big stonefly, but the rest on a brown mohair leach. Should be fine wading till it gets to 3.0 at Akers. NPS usually closes the river to float traffic at around 3.5 on the Akers guage, but I've had good floating and fishing at that level. Cheers.
