Members trophy trout Posted May 1, 2010 Members Posted May 1, 2010 I've down some limited fly fishing for muskie in Ohio and Pennsylvania, using mostly large dahlberg divers. I've had quite a few follows, but never a take. Should be able to achieve some measure of Wisconsin with even a little work.. the place is full of great muskie fishing. Don't forget what your good book said.

fishinwrench Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 To those who have caught both, how would you rate (compare) the fight between a Muskie and a Gar ? Do Musky get air ?
flytyer57 Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 To those who have caught both, how would you rate (compare) the fight between a Muskie and a Gar ? Do Musky get air ? Yes, musky will get air, but mostly they will dive for the bottom and pull plenty of drag heading out to deeper water or a snag. If you were to google musky fishing, I'm sure there's got to be a few videos out there. Try YouTube. There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.

I was just saying, since Clark is jonesin' for some hammer-handle sport he's probably better off targeting Gar than Musky while he's stuck here in Missouri. I hooked into one recently on the fly and I can't imagine that a Musky could be much better sport as far as fighting ability goes. If they had colorful spots and stripes they'd probably be more sought after. LOL Plus, I keep hearing that Gar backstrap is delicious, so the next one I catch I'm gonna try it.
