trizkid Posted May 2, 2010 Posted May 2, 2010 hey guys thinking about maybe heading to busch today for a few hours to hit the c&R lakes and maybe this creek if it has anything in it....just wondering if anyone has checked it out before and if there are any fish in it? TrIzzout
eric1978 Posted May 2, 2010 Posted May 2, 2010 Always wondered myself. I heard there was a fish kill below Hwy K a few years back due to a chemical spill or something. Let us know what you come up with. I'm sure it has some little largemouth in it up by Busch.
Chris Barclay Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 I've fished it several times near lake 33 and have caught a few small bass and bream. It's very fishy looking with some good stretches but it hasn't produced what I thought it should. I read a study somewhere that showed a VERY small fish population. Members fisheye Posted May 3, 2010 Members Posted May 3, 2010 All Yes I am sure of it. Have caught a few white bass too.
duckydoty Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 I will have to add bowfin, gar, and carp to that list. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners
BredMan Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Years ago I fished Dardenne Creek right under the bridge at HWY-40. Nice big hole for crappie and some bass and bluegill. Then as the highway expanded and housing developments popped up everywhere the fishing suffered. About 6 years ago I waded some portions of it and caught a few small large mouth and sunfish but that was it. The hole under the HYW-40 bridge is now shallow from lane expansions on the bridge and highway. I am sure there are a few holes with some fish yet but they are next to someone's backyard now. There is a lake on down in the Baret Haven subdivision that is water basin and takes in some water when Dardenne Creek is high or flooding. Not sure of the fishing regulations there.
Guest P. owensby Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 All of what everyone has said is true. There are about 5-6 fishable or former fishable creeks in St.charels Co. Funny the only one mentioned in 200 SMA is the probibly the worst of the bunch and that one is Femme Osage. It is a shame too, because it is in a beautiful landscape but with all the developement including new neighborhoods, Boone Valley G.C. etc, the creek has filled in dramatically and it has sufferd, although, as late as the mid 90's, it was at least worth going too if you lived close. Now to the other creeks in the general area, there was a sample study done in 2002 by the MDC and it has a thourough graph containing the fish populations of the creeks in the area (incidently Femme Osage had 1 Smallie found in the study) and indeed, there were a few bass both small and largemouth and various other sunfish in Dardenne creek, however, don't go below hiway 40 for many reasons mentioned previously, but also due to the creek being channelized as well. Also, there are Smallmouth and goggleye in Peruque creek above Lake St.louis and there is another creek in the area that is still worth going to, but I'd rather not say, however if you did a liitle research from material provided by the MDC, it could be figured out. Love the forum gentlemen.
Members JBlab0719 Posted July 22, 2010 Members Posted July 22, 2010 I think I may head to Dardenne Creek this weekend to check it out. I was going to start at Busch # 33 and head west hoping to find some good spots.
