Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted June 3, 2006 Root Admin Posted June 3, 2006 Rumor has it BP only has a permit for 16 slips - uncovered! That's all. That's a rumor but I'm sure with it opening real soon, the dock should be built and installed in the next week or so. We'll see then.
Members DOC HILL Posted June 3, 2006 Members Posted June 3, 2006 BP HAS A PERMIT FOR 18 SLIPS . NO GAS OR ANY THING ELSE
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted June 3, 2006 Author Root Admin Posted June 3, 2006 No roof- that's what gets me. Those new boats out in the sun.
Members Champ Posted June 5, 2006 Members Posted June 5, 2006 I heard they ticked off the wrong people in the corp and the Dept. of Interior. Their initial proposal was for 18 slips and they tried to change it up to 40. Not only no roof, only BP owned boats may use the slips. No courtesy dock there for shoping. Also heard that MO water patrol make an informal request that BP not test boats upstream of the Landing.
Forsythian Posted June 5, 2006 Posted June 5, 2006 Does anyone know if there are plans for courtesy docks at all with regard to the landing? thanks Cenosillicaphobiac
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted June 5, 2006 Author Root Admin Posted June 5, 2006 I think the city has one planned but haven't heard of any permits granted. Wouldn't that be ashamed... $300 mil project on the lakefront with no access from the lake. Seriously- would not be good.
ColdWaterFshr Posted June 5, 2006 Posted June 5, 2006 I was visiting family in town and we took the fam down to the new landing yesterday around noon. Had a nice lunch outside at Garfields and we walked around and checked out the shops. I was VERY impressed with the whole set-up, the layout, the quality construction, the choice of shops, the roving entertainers (magicians, clowns, bagpipers, dancers, singers, were all excellent.) Only negative was the traffic getting in and out of there. Boats tying up at the Landing could certainly help ease some of that. I was kind've skeptical a couple years ago, but seeing it now, this thing should be a huge success. Bass Pro won't lose any boat sales not being able to do demos on the lake.
Forsythian Posted June 5, 2006 Posted June 5, 2006 I would certainly like to occasionally put in at Empire park (about 3 or 4 miles from my front door), and boat up to the landing for a bite and a "look-around"... so I hope they get some public slips. Cenosillicaphobiac
crappiefisherman Posted June 5, 2006 Posted June 5, 2006 my family and I went for a stroll down at the landing after church.I was impressed by what ive seen so far. When its finished it will really be something.I have always been skeptical of the thing and its just open so who knows, Im wonderin what it will be like when the tall buildings are built , on both sides of the lake. Can there be enough parking?the lots were full on sunday and only half the stores open.I can also see a good thing, you can take the roundabout to long street and skip the afternoon line to cross the lake, or at least most of the line. Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted June 5, 2006 Author Root Admin Posted June 5, 2006 Was the whole parking garage-thing full!!?? That's supposed to support the high-rise hotel and convention center too- I think... neither of which have been started yet.
