Hotdawg Guide Service Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 The Smallies on the lower Lake are biting better than I have ever seen in my 35 years of guideing on The Big Bull. I have been out all week and on the White one day and the bite for smallie is AWESOME!! I am using Gitzits with a 1/4 ounce jighead holding the boat in 20-25 feet of using 8 pound flourocarbon on a spinning rod. Let it fall to the old brush line and move your bait slow. Also working well are lizards. The numbers we are catching are the best I have seen in years!! GOD Bless Hotdawg Hot Dawg Guide Service
BrianS Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 Yeah I am catching alot of them too. There are alot of 10-12 inchers in the lake now. Keepers are harder to come by or at least for me. HOOK 'EM HORNS
Ham Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 Hey Tim, Is that smallie bite affected by time of day or weather conditions? I'm wondering if I can get an early topwater bite and then pull out and try that smallie bite in the middle of a sunny afternoon or if I would be better served hitting the smalliies early and late. Thanks, Ham Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish

Ham Posted May 31, 2010 Posted May 31, 2010 Thank you. I'll try to get out there and give them a try sometime relatively soon. I'll start with 1/4 oz and adjust if necessary and I'll start off crawling my soft plastic and try something different if I don't get bit. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. Mike Worley Posted May 31, 2010 Posted May 31, 2010 Don't forget to bring some Zoom lizards they are still catching bass & walleyes. 6" Green pumpkin is still working pretty good.
