Members Clouser.minner Posted May 27, 2010 Members Posted May 27, 2010 what do yall guys think is the best hybris lake in the region to land 10+ lb hybrids?
fishinwrench Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 Double digits ? that's a tough call, but Truman has plenty in the 4-6+ range, and if that doesn't excite you then you've been at it longer than I have.
Bird Watcher Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 I think Alabama and Texas have the most stocked anually. Based on growth rates, any lake that has a year class of fish at least 4+ years should have good nuumbers (relatively speaking) of double digit fish. I talked to a guy that had two over 10lbs. yesterday afternoon below Pensacola Dam. I've never fished for them on Truman, but I'd like to. I wish there was a more apparent way to distinguish them from Whites when they are little. I think a lot of people clean them before they ever get a chance to be giants thinking they are white bass.
podum Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 I've seen and heard of many pigs out of Greer's Ferry. Lake of the Ozarks is underrated but we've generally only found them early spring and fall. The best way to id the little ones is to look at the horizontal stripes. Broken stripes above the lateral line on either side = hybrid. I wish I had more time more than I wish I had more money.
Cody Smith Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 We have got good numbers of some really big fish here at Greers as well as some that I would consider Huge. Going back to an earlier post, your not going to come here or go to any body of water and just slay the 10+lb. fish. Those fish that are in that class get big for a reason. Cody S.
