Members Wormser Posted May 28, 2010 Members Posted May 28, 2010 I am focusing on pumpkins and cucumbers. I also have one watermelon plant that is starting to fruit and some carrots and gordes. The melon plant is too immature so I am going to pull the fruit now. The wife is doing tomatoes, strawberries and beans up in pots on the deck. The pumpkins and melon are the only thing with any size in the plant yet. They are vining at around 4" a day so they should really start getting big soon. I am doing a couple of types from last years seeds, a a first for me with the Dills Atlantic Giant pumpkin which holds the world record over 1,700 punds. If I get 100# in my little garden I will be happy. I'll keep updates if anyone is interested.
Members Wormser Posted July 20, 2010 Author Members Posted July 20, 2010 Everything is out of control with lots of big fruit. Got some pumpkins growing along the upper part of fence on ledges. The last pic is of a giant type of pumpkin at 10 days old averaging 4 inches in circumference a day.
Trout Commander Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Nooooooooooooooooooo don't let the Giant Pumpkin squash the beer! I hope it's an empty! Nice little veggie patch you've got going there, sir! I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted. The latest Trout Commander blog post: Niangua River Six Pack
Quillback Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 Looks like the pumpkin polished off the beer and is now taking a nap.
Gilly Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 Wondered what the chairs were for. Beer can answers that question! Very nice garden, I wish I still had that much patience. Just had our first batch of sweet corn the other night, good stuff. www.drydock516.com
jdmidwest Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 It amazes me when people "wish" they had a garden. It only takes a little corner of the yard or a section to grow alot of good eatable food. I have had many friends that plant squash, peppers, cucumbers, and tomatoes in pots on patios and enjoyed the fruits of their labors. I am lucky, I have an acre to play with. The main garden is 30' x 40' and grows lots of veggies. The strawberry patches are 8' circles and produce quarts of berries. My corner garden produces peppers, cucs, tomatoes, lettuce, and spinach and is 20' x 5'. The rest is devoted to trees. Nice work. Members Wormser Posted August 2, 2010 Author Members Posted August 2, 2010 Here she is at 23 days pushing 100lbs according to 3 measurements (OTT). She still drinks natty light too.
Trout Commander Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 If she were mine I would get her some Select 55... oh wait were still talking pumpkins aren't we?!? Very nice though, thanks for the update! I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted. The latest Trout Commander blog post: Niangua River Six Pack
