bigredbirdfan Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 Is anyone aware of any river outfitters that rent solo canoes? Not really interested in kayaks.
Bill Anderson Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 Solos are hard to come by for rentals. Do what I do: rent a standard double canoe, but sit in the front seat, facing backwards and paddle that way. The canoe is well balanced since your weight is closer to the middle, and it handles as easily as a true solo. I have paddled plastic, glass and old aluminum Grummans solo this way for many years, and it does just fine. I have a friend, a Jewish carpenter, whom you should get to know. If you do, your life will never be the same.
GloryDaze Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 I think Hog Heaven may have a couple they use on the Elk, Indian and Big Sugar, Try sening "Wacky Worm" a PM on here and he might be able to let you know. I'm not positive though- Follow me on Twitter @DazeGlory
