Predator1 Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 Do you just tie the 1/8 oz jig to your line and cast it far enough to troll behind your boat or do you use it on a Carolina rig? I used the Carolina Rig a month ago on Bull Shoals with a 4'leader then a hook and a night crawler. I tried that on Stockton a couple of weeks ago and had no luck.
Thunderin Gobbler Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 I am heading up to Roark Bluff this evening to crappie fish, but after reading these posts, I may try my luck at the walleye too. I have only ever caught one short one, so it's all a learning experience to me. I caught a lot of bass last weekend on the point to the west of Roark Bluff ramp, where the S1 marker is. Would that be a good area to check out for walleye as well? If you all have any tips for me, I'd really appreciate it. I will post my successes and/or failures on here Monday.

Just a note to let you kow that I ocassionally fish the Roark area for crappie this time of year and usually can pick up a few at 25 to 35 ft along the steep rocky bluff areas. I use minnows below slip bobbers and the bites are usually light. In those areas I usually do not pick up any walleyes so I assume they are probably along the windy rocky points but I am sure that others can better answer that question than me. Good luck and I look forward to your trip report.
Members HYDE Posted June 18, 2010 Members Posted June 18, 2010 Heading up to stockton tonight cant decide between putting in at crabtree or roark buff. i'll be in a red explorer with dads bass tracker, say hi if you see me! good luck and have a safe weekend everyone. (i'll be bass fishing) p.s. Bob do you post the results of the thursday night tournys?
shockley32 Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 Bob will post the results from last nights tournament. The problem - he's still crying because his partner didn't grab the net on a 14" fish!?! If you tie on an 1/8 ounce jig just drop it straight to the bottom and vertical jig it. Move across the points slowly, make sure you have just enough line out to keep the jig/nighcrawler combo on the bottom. It won't take long and you'll have it perfected. Just about any of the points with rocks are really good right now, just get out and give it a go and you'll enjoy it. I should call Bob to console him about that fish last night but I think I'll go fishing instead! Brad Have your visited Limitville lately?
Thunderin Gobbler Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 I'm thinking about trying to fish that tournament next Thursday. What size bag won the thing last night?
Hunter75 Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 Thanks for the info Bob, much appreciated, I'll post the results if we have any
binman Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 I came in third with 10 lbs and some and first and second had 11 and some change it usually takes a good bag to win I personally encourage every one to fish so some one new wins every week or I can win them and I would not argue with that!!!!!!!!!!!!
