While it may appear so it is not really a negatrive thread. When we as OAF members see or experience these types of activities we need to share it with others. The younger men who use the site can learn what actions are appropriate that way and other older fisherman should be encouraged to discourage this type of activity when they see it in tournaments that they participate in. As OAF members I think we can make a difference in minimizing these kind of bad occurances.

straw hat i 2ND that.We all need to look inside ourselves "Why do we fish?".Nothing charges me more than to see another sunrise and sundown, the calmness of it.HOW MANY DO WE GET? getting to fish is extra.

sorry about that. But i do fish alot of tournaments and here the negative side of things hell some of the guys i fish against are rude and cut you off. but some of the crappie fisherman in the spring are the most rudist people in the world i do understand that is the only time that alot of people can catch a fish. But to say all tournament guys are rude is not true. I hope you and your wive have enjoyable weekend at the lake. Just remember if someone pisses you off tell them to have a nice day and continue on what you are doing.

Last tournament guys who cut me off whipped up making 3 ft waves, cut me off, when I just shook my head the said, WHAT.... first words out of their mouths were, you fishing a tournament? I said nope, they said we ARE.. I said so... they want to know if I would mind if the cut me off. I said they already had and they were going to do wanted anyway. Called me an A**shole and roared off like I was the one who cut them off....

If they had come up behind me and said hey were fishing a tournament and have a brush pile we've been fishing you mind if we pull in ahead of you. I would have said fine would have sat back and watched.

Tournament fisherman should be the ambassadors of the sport instead, they are often a pain. Just cause your in a tournament doesn't mean that your fishing is more important than mine. You choose to pay to be in a tournament, you didn't pay to have preferred or exclusive rights to the lake. I bought a boat, put gas in the truckand boat, bought tackle ect.. looked at maps, just like the tournament guys. if you can't be courteous pretend

Most tournament rules have a rule about how close you can be to another boat, usually a pretty fair distance if you can't be courteous follow your own rules.

Prolly not the right thing to do, but I've been known to do a few "doughtnuts" in the cove by some of these rude people. It's not just tourney guys either, it's just people in general. I guess all the fish are in the cove I am in. I have meet some tourney guys that have actually went around to stay out of my way. I let them have the cove as I idled away. I'm generous to them as long as they are generous. Life is too short. Good Day!

I fish about 250 days a year, almost all on Stockton. I see 100 PLUS great people that are polite and courteous to every 1 rude person. I don't pay much attention to the rude one, just go on with my day and enjoy having such a great life. Although I do have to admit that if I get the chance someone once told me that I can be a little, just a touch, sarcastic. Now I don't see it, but apparently I sometimes say something to stoke the fire just a little as we pull away.

Life is to short (and so am I) to sit around and worry about a tourny fisherman or a crappie fisherman making us mad while we are enjoying fishing. It will probably get worse the more crowded the lake gets, but I would still rather be fishing than arguing with some sizzle chest on another boat or the bank.

I think we should all get together and sing a nice song together, like we are the world, or somethin like that.

Now back to the topic at hand, I'm checking my schedule and would like to fish the tourny. will let you know

The wife choose this weekend for a trip to Stockton to fish. Not too often that she plans a trip for us. Hope not to run into too many rude tournament boats.

Dang it.

I have been fishing Stockton for years and I don't fish tournaments. But, I have never had a problem with tournament fishermen. There's a lot of lake and if it gets crowded in one area I move to another. I do try to avoid jet skis and skiers, but there's room for everybody. Overall, most people are considerate. How you react to someone can make the difference between a good or bad encounter. There are a ton of fish in Stockton. I know, because I have an underwater camera. You would be amazed. Catching is a different story! Ha ha! Stay cool and enjoy!

Stay cool!? It was hot, dang hot. And I must say we had no problems with any 'bass' type boats. Only 'encounter' we had was one old guy trolling right on by us. Nodded his head, not a word was spoken. But you could have put maybe 3 size 12 sneakers between our boat and the end of his fishing pole. Like you said, a lot of lake.....

As a tournament angler, this really jacks my jaw. Not you guys, but the attitude of my fellow T-anglers.

I know this is not your fault but if you'd get a boat hull #'s and find out what circuit they are fishing. Contact the tournament official. If he's doing his job he'll either suspend those anglers or DQ them. Every circuit I've fished has a sportsmanship clause in the rules and this sound like a violation to me.

We as tournament anglers need to share our water.
