Members B1gluke56 Posted June 30, 2010 Members Posted June 30, 2010 Hey guys need some help again. I have never fished this stream. I will be down the 8th -13th of July. I need to know what kind of tackle to bring and what fish is best to target. I will be in my canoe on the meramec the courtois and the huzzah. Im thinking small mouth but are trout avaliable in this area and are there any restrictions. Is there any good fishing at the ozark outdoors campground. Any help about tackle bait flys and/or restrictions will help. thanks guys
Gavin Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 There are a few trout up by Hwy 8 on the Huzzah, but smallmouth & panfish are the main attraction. Soft Plastic's, Spinnerbaits, Cranks, Buzzers, Soft Jerkbaits will all catch fish. Just get there before the mob, or fish after the mob is gone. My wife and I are staying with some friends near there this weekend. I'll post up a report when I get back. Cheers.

awhuber Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 There are? Whatchu talkin' 'bout Willis? Yep Dry creek comes into the Huzzah just above Hwy 8. Dry creek has trout all the way up to Fishermans dude ranch! (Now some bankrupt fancy trout fishing establishment)
cwc87 Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 Just a little insight on this thread. I live where dry creek enters the Huzzah all of the property is private. For a fee of $8 good up until 9:oo p.m. is what I charge for a day pass. Just register at the red barn that has Huzzah Valley on it. Now, Years ago trout fishing was awesome when the old fishermans dude ranch let trout escape out of their hatchery when it flooded. Now the dude ranch is called Westover farms has done major renovations to the hatchery and it is very rare that they loose trout out into the dry creek stream. Sure back in the day this was some of the best trout fishing going but things have changed sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
3wt Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 Also note that the stream itself is not private property. Fishing the huzzah in that area is legal if you're floating or wading from a public (or legal) access. As of a couple of years ago I know trout could still be caught on the Huzzah right at Dry Creek. Fishing Dry Creek however would not be legal.
