My eight year old daughter and her friend starting trying to make their own creations on my tying bench when I was out of town. Bunny strips everywhere, marabou laying on the floor, etc. They left the bottles of head cement open and it started drying up. What if anything should I use to cut the head cement and make it usable again?

There is head cement thinner available at most fly shops. Naptha is pretty good, but lacquer thinner is the best I've used. Then again, it depends on what kind of head cement you have. There is a water based head cement out there that you would only need some water.

Might be cheaper to go out and buy a new bottle.

Acetone, Tolulene and naptha comes in cans bigger than what you'll need for this.

There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.

Go to you nearest walmart and get the generic bottle of finger nail polish remover (It is Acetone) get the non scented one. It will be about 1.50 for a plastic bottle that will last for a long time. I never buy the head cement from fly tying stores. Just get the sallys clear nail polish or hard as nails clear and it will work great for most all that you tie. I even get some other colors ... red, white, green, etc for jig heads and eye centers. For around 5 bucks you will be set for a while.
