Fished this weekend Friday and Saturday nights. The fishing was slow to none in at least 75% of the spots we hit. Was amazed at some of the seemingly community holes that always have a fish or two, if not stacked, on how barren the bite was. Fished from Aunts to Baxter to the Cows.

But, even with the slow bite, when you find them its good. One bank produced 4 keepers, anouther spot produced a 6.5lb largemouth with two shorts. Seemed like if you catch one, slow down and cover the area slowly and change baits.

Millcreek Saturday Night derby had 4 fish limit weighing 17lbs.

Would hate to take this heat during the day, wonderful how quite the water is at Night.

Hey Jason, if you want to know just how hot it was Saturday during the day and how bad the boat traffic was, give me a call. You might need an hour or two, though.

Donna and I fished a derby out of Baxter. Took off at 5:45 a.m. and weighed in at 4 p.m. Yeah, 4 p.m. What a marathon. There was not a breath of wind all day and we roasted. Caught two decent keepers and lost several more. Won't go into details as they aren't caught until they're in the boat and they don't weigh a darn thing at the scales. But we literally invented new ways to lose fish.

Ended up taking 11 pounds and change to win and 7 pounds for second.

Dock bite that was decent the Saturday before died on the vine for us. Caught one keeper on a Fin early and drop-shotted the other one about 2 p.m. Otherwise, we did stick some decent fish on football jigs and one on a deep crank bait. Most were in 12-18 feet of water early on, moving out to 30 feet by afternoon. Sloping secondary points just inside the deeper creeks and cuts were best. Very few bites on bluff ends.

For gosh sakes, bring on fall!

Jason,

That seems to be pretty much what we have experienced the last few times out. The bite has been slow, but if you can find one keeper there are usually more in the same area. Last Wednesday night, we had 6 keepers on one 50 yard stretch of bank in about 45 minutes just after dark.

John, mainly main lake stuff, long points with trees. Off shore fishing at its finest after dark can be frustrating at times.

Champ, I can only imagine how the traffic was. If your anything like me, its hard to settle in and consintrate when its like that, especally when the bites are far inbetween.
