tippet7 Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 Does anyone have any idea where I may be able to find one around here in halfway decent condition? You are so stupid you threw a rock at the ground and missed.
Gavin Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 Oooray Devil Dog! Guess by your tag line you spent some time in the Corps. Did a stretch from 86-92 myself. Dont know if its any help, but a friend Greg from Illinois was trying to sell one for a buddy of his awhile back. I dont know if its still for sale. His friend built it and it has a trailer. I dont remember what he was asking for it, but it was less than $1000 and that included the trailer. The boat is located in Lincoln, Illinois (2hrs from St. Louis). If you are interested you can contact Greg for pics and info at sparkleminnow@insightbb.com Cheers.
tippet7 Posted December 14, 2005 Author Posted December 14, 2005 OOHRAH Gavin, thanks for the info brother! Yep was in from 83-95. during the time you were in, I was a recruiter in Norman Ok 88-91, MCRD PISC 91-94. Did my final tour at 1st FSSG CampPen 94-95 By the way do you ever wander over to the Military.com discussion groups? www.military.com I am mostly on the Marine Open Discussion Forum You are so stupid you threw a rock at the ground and missed.
Gavin Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 Norman Oklahoma? There was a dude in my squadron from there, his name was Joe Marshall and he got in around 83 or 84.. Spent the first two years going to school, then spent the rest of my tour at El Toro, were I did a Westpac on the USS Ranger with VMA-121 (A-6 Medium Bomber Squadron), and a tour in the first Gulf war with VMFA-314 (FA-18 Squadron). I've never been too the Military.com forums, but I'll have to check them out. Thanks.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted December 14, 2005 Root Admin Posted December 14, 2005 I have a friend who builds the Stealth Craft Drift boats out of Michigan. He's here visiting- I'll ask him and get back.
tippet7 Posted December 14, 2005 Author Posted December 14, 2005 Small world isnt it? I left Norman in Oct of 91. Loved that place. I would have stayed if I had been a SSgt, but at the time they wouldnt allow Sgts to be career recruiters (even though I was recruiter of the year, rookie of the year and the CMC Gen Gray and the SgtMaj of the Marine Corps called me himself and told me "You are one hot sh** Cpl. Keep up the good work" ) Good thing I didnt stay though, the Murrah Building was my HQ. My ex wife (also Marine) would have been sitting at her desk on the 6th floor and would have been blown out. My 2 kids used to attend that day care at the Murrah Bldg. I knew 15 people that were killed that day. Was the Ranger out of San Diego or Long Beach? Phil...appreciate the checking for me! You are so stupid you threw a rock at the ground and missed.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted December 15, 2005 Root Admin Posted December 15, 2005 Jim has an 11-foot and 2) 12-foots he'd sell. With trailer. They are Stealth Crafts- he makes them. All 3 are fiberglass. Ash rails. 2 swivel seats. Dry storage box. Oars. 2-3 years old. All are in good shape. 2 are green camo and 1 gray camo (aqua design). $1,500 choice. They are in Baldwin, Michigan so you'll have to go up and pick them up (spring steelhead trip!!) The 11-ft is the same as the 11-ft hyde drifter design. Jim said when he gets home in a couple of weeks he can send pics. http://hydeoutdoors.com/boats/used/used.php
Wayne SW/MO Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 Is that the same Jim from the fly shop, guiding and resort with his brother? Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted December 15, 2005 Root Admin Posted December 15, 2005 Yes- Tom and Jim. Jim bought the cabins at 37 and the PM back in 1981 or 2, just before I bought our resort. I went up there for the first time with a friend from St Louis, Peter Mathiesen, and got to know Jim, Phyliss and Tom. Since then, I've been up there 20+ times and Jim & family comes down here twice a year. Tom is coming down this weekend and joining us for some fishing on Taney before going over to KS for some bird hunting. Last year, I went up to Alaska and helped Tom on a package trip with some of his clients. Jim sold the lodge a few years ago. He guides and builds drift boats. Tom and Chris manage the Rainbow Club just downstream from the lodge. He guides in Alaska and in Central America in the PM's offseasons.
Wayne SW/MO Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 We, my son and I, made a couple of trips and I also went with some friends a couple of times. They certainly went out of their way to make our trips successful. I haven't been since the late 80's however. Nice people. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
