I am going to try some fly fishing for bass this next weekend and was wondering if anybody had any suggestions about what to tie or use. I'm guessing wooly buggers and some foam poppers might be good. I may try some type of streamer too. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Check out some of these...

I personally really like the gulley worm and use it often as well as a few small variations of it. Also might not hurt to have some big flashies in the box like these.

All kinds of things out there that you can throw at them just give it a shot.

Wow... there are a lot of possibilities here. Crawfish patterns, streamers, poppers, terrestrials like hoppers, junebugs, beetles, ants... Rainy's has some very kewl poppers available at many fly shops. They make a lot of water splashes and get the fish's attention. With a dropper jig of some sort, this makes a killer combo...

Try some poppers and buggers. Also tie up some Clouser Minnows and some Gurglers. You can find Jack Gartsides Gurglers HERE.

There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.

Youll want some flat faced poppers, and sliders like a sneaky petes & dahlberg divers......plus stuff that resembles minnows, bluegill & crayfish.

Thanks for the advice. I'll give some of those things a try. Hopefully I'll catch something photo worthy to post.

Poppers are my favorite for obvious reasons. Detailed crawfish patterns are very elegant in the vise, but all you need is a crawfish colored wooly weighted to bounce along the bottom. Pine squirrel streamers are hard to beat. They can be fished right under the surface, in the middle, or on the bottom.

It seems like the standard answers you will find to this question on the internet is clousers and sneaky pete's. And I'm not knocking their ability to catch fish, but I have never done that well on them, probably because I hardly ever fish them. I have 3 or 4 clousers total and no pete's. The good thing about bass is that they are not real particular when they are hungry. As long as it looks alive they will want to kill it.

I'll be fishing at Mozingo Lake in northwest Missouri. Probably not a well known lake on this forum, but I fished it all through high school and college.
