straw hat Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Don't feel bad Thunderin Gobbler. The last few years the ratio of keepers to shorts has gotten real bad during the summer at CC. It seems like the summer water temperature has been higher these last few years too. I think this has driven them toward the main lake like Predator1 said. I wound up switching to the Ruark area the last few weeks and things have improved considerable BUT you do have to boat aways and get away from the boat traffic. I suggest you try Hawker or Hartley. You should be able to get into some quality fish in that area without going too far. With the clearer water you might have to fish a little deeper though.
Thunderin Gobbler Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Thanks Straw Hat. I will consider that too. I'd rather go to the deeper water personally where I at least have a better shot at finding more keepers. I also heard they are catching a bunch of good crappie back in son's creek. Anybody going back in there?
Members hogbob Posted July 29, 2010 Members Posted July 29, 2010 Let me chime in, Me and my son put in at mutton this morning about 7 am we went up the Big Sac half way to cc and all we could muster up were two keepers (crappie) and one short. We were headed back around noon and decided to try the bridge piers at twin bridges. We ended up with 24 keepers and 6 or 8 shorts all on minnows around 20 ft deep on the shady side of the pier. At 2 oclock they quit completly.

Skeeter ZX190 Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 There have been several posts about not being able to catch walleye. Maybe the secret is to not fish for walleye. Back in May and June I caught more walleye bass fishing then I have ever caught before. Carolina rigged lizard. Couldn't believe it.
